Bride Erin knew from the start that flowers would play a big part in her wedding to Murray, so she called on Vicky Speirs from Vicky’s Flowers in East Calder to help make her floral vision a reality.

“Flowers were one of the first things that I was sure we were going to put a lot of effort into when we started planning our wedding,” says Erin, who got married to Murray in May 2018 at The Barn @ Harburn, West Calder.
Vicky was Erin’s best friend Jodie’s florist at her wedding a few years ago, and Erin admired her flowers so much that she knew straight away that she wanted Vicky to do hers. “I didn’t even enquire about anyone else – I was already sold!” she says.
Erin and Vicky worked together on ideas for the wedding, working off of a rustic gold and blush pink romantic theme.
“I had loads of ideas and pictures for inspiration, so Vicky and I met up and talked it all through. I must have changed my mind about specific elements a few times but Vicky took it all in her stride; she worked with what I wanted but was also happy to say no when I got a bit out of hand,” laughs Erin.
Erin always wanted a big bridal bouquet and that’s exactly what Vicky created: beautiful big blush peonies, Quicksand roses and sweet peas that Vicky managed to source even though they were out of season.
“Vicky incorporated the sweet peas in other floral elements around the venue. Our table centres had lots of lush foliage and other flowers which held sentimental value for us and our families, which made the day even more special,” says Erin. “The men’s buttonholes were Quicksand roses and foliage; Murray’s was slightly different to the others.”
One of Erin’s favourite floral elements (other than gorgeous pug Maggie’s floral collar) was the trailing flower and foliage wall backdrop behind the top table.
The couple were delighted with how their vision came together with Vicky’s Flowers.
