We absolutely love an Archerfield House wedding here at SWD HQ. Like the building itself, couples who tie the knot there tend to be glamorous and modern, and their wedding days are always Pinterest-worthy affairs. Chris and Hollie were no different, and we totally fell in love with their beautifully chic wedding which took place on a crisp January day earlier this year.

We got married at Dirleton Kirk with the reception at Archerfield House and the party at The Waterfront. As well as a wedding venue, Archerfield is a Links Golf Course, and Chris’s dad, DJ Russell, designed the course, so it was very special to our family that it was there. It is also by the coast, which makes it a truly beautiful setting.
I really enjoyed all the planning and organising but took it for granted that it wasn’t quite as fun for Chris at the beginning. However, he really enjoyed it when we got nearer to the day and did an amazing job at arranging everything. It’s hard not to worry about the little things that go wrong but if you do enough prep on the run up, it will be worth it on the day.
We had a wedding weekend, so the highlights were spread over the three days. Chris held a Pro-Am on the Friday for all the golfers and the girls used the spa. Everyone getting to know each other before the wedding made a massive difference to how fun the actual wedding day was!
The main highlight was seeing all our family and friends have such a good time together. The dance floor was never empty and we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Everyone has asked [since we got married] ‘do you feel different?’ I think we would both say we do. The day really showed us how lucky we are; we both have incredible family and friends and it made us realise how important family and friends are. In the run up to the wedding you get so caught up in the planning and money-saving that you don’t get to see everyone as much. Now the wedding is over we have made more of an effort to see all our friends and family more.
