Geometrics have been a massive wedding trend over the past year, but it can be trick to get right – there’s a fine line between sleek shapes and wonky monstrosities!
Bride Louise loved the geometric look so much that she wanted to incorporate it into her wedding cake, and worked closely with wedding cake designer A Bonnie Wee Cake to create the perfect bake for her big day.

“I love geometric shapes, especially when they’re gold, because I also love things with gold accents,” Louise tells us. “I love the dynamics and depth they have while still looking crisp and clean. When I was looking for cake ideas I knew I wanted to incorporate a geometric shape and the colour gold into it, but I had no idea how.”
A Bonnie Wee Cake were recommended to Louise by her wedding venue Balbirnie House Hotel, and as soon as she went on the cake company’s Instagram to see their designs, she knew she had to book them. “After seeing photos of their previous wedding cakes I knew they could create something amazing,” she says. “I contacted A Bonnie Wee Cake’s Alison straight away and she was so excited by the challenge of what I wanted to create!”
Alison found the perfect dummy shape for the geometric ‘tier’ of the cake, and then spray painted it gold to fit with Louise’s colour scheme. Then, to keep things elegant and neat, she suggested that the real cake tiers should be fondant complete with a marble effect to finish the look off.
As soon as Louise saw the finished cake, she fell in love, but no one was more impressed than new hubby Evan. “He wasn’t part of the designing process and so was blown away when he saw the cake on the day – he kept asking if it was really real!” laughs Louise.
