Leighann and Donald had a beautiful vintage summer fete wedding at Banchory Lodge in Aberdeenshire, with a dusty pink and peach colour scheme.
The day was also special as Leighann took the time to remember her beloved mum, who passed away in 2010.
Bride Leighann fills us in on her big day…
Don had been on a trip to Norway and told me his flight was landing in the evening when he actually got back at lunchtime.
He went to Jamieson & Carry in Aberdeen and bought my brilliant cut single diamond engagement ring. When he proposed we were on holiday at Loch Tay.
My mum passed away in 2010 so wedding dress shopping was very emotional.
I tried on every style in every fabric but this just left me confused. I searched the internet and found Justin Alexander 8727 and tracked it down to Gwenne Wedding Services. My sister Dawn-Louise cried as soon as I stepped out of the changing room.
The night before the wedding, we had a big family meal. Just before midnight I was summoned upstairs. My girls had made scrapbooks from my hen weekend in Berlin.
My sister gave me a bracelet with our mum’s handwriting saying “Love mum” to wear on my wedding day.
My sister kicked off the speeches (referring to Don as an old orange armchair that had been in the family for years!) and we had a toast to our beautiful mum. Don’s speech was full of emotion. It felt like it was just me he was talking to.
The atmosphere at the reception was amazing. Ladies were being twirled around the dance floor and the whisky was flowing.
Not to mention my brothers-in-law skinny dipping in the river!
