Having your wedding at the same place that you got engaged is a very special way to get hitched, it creates double the memories!
This is exactly what Emma-Jane and her rugby player fiancé Pete chose to do when they said their I Do’s in Loch Lomond. “We decided to have the wedding out by Loch Lomond because that’s where we got engaged and it is special to us, as well as being absolutely stunning,” said Emma.
The couple went traditional and had a small winter celebration with a Scottish blue thistle theme.
The Cruin provided the perfect backdrop for their reception and the couple loved it, “We fell in love with The Cruin as soon as we first visited it. We loved the fact that the reception rooms were right by Loch Lomond and it had its own beach and jetty with amazing views. With the sparkly lights at night it looked great in the dark as well.”
Getting married in Scottish winter can give you a warm romantic feel that other seasons may not always provide.
“Having a winter wedding meant that we could have the fire on, offer mulled wine as well at the drinks reception, and have lots of candles everywhere when it got dark early.
“We were also less worried about the weather as we half expected it to be bad, so when we had a perfect clear winter’s day with snow topped mountains in the background it was absolutely amazing,” gushed Emma.
Glasgow Warriors player Pete has a busy schedule and it was a risk putting the wedding on a day after a match the night before.
“Thankfully neither Pete nor any of the ushers were injured which prevented them being able to make the day and there were no black eyes for the photos!” a relived Emma said.

Photographer: Imagine Images “I liked their relaxed and informal style. Neither of us enjoys having our photo taken, and we both felt we weren’t photogenic, so it was important to have someone who understood us.”
Videographer: “My friends from home, Nikki and Bruno who were guests at the wedding offered to do this for us, which was amazing.”
Transport: Carrs Loch Lomond
Groomswear: Debenhams “We also bought everyone tartan ties!”
Dress: Stella York from Sarah Louise Bridal “I fell in love with this one as it had a simple but elegant shape and the vintage lace was absolutely gorgeous. Nadia was so great and had me in every week in December once the dress and lace came in to make sure everything was right.”
Cake: Rainbow Sugarcraft “We wanted something very simple and they were very happy to do that, with a simple ivory ribbon so our florist then made toppers for it. They were brilliant at sending us so many samples to try in such a variety of flavours. It was so hard to choose.”
Caterer: The Cruin “The food was incredible from the canapés to the three course meal and tablet, and the evening buffet. People are still raving about the food now. The food looked beautiful but was also very substantial for all the rugby players in the room.”
Florist: Roots, Fruits and Flowers “They could not have done a better job. My bouquet was just simply stunning.”
Entertainment: Goldstar “We listened to lots of different bands on the Music for Scotland Website but we loved this one as they had both female and male vocalists.”
Stationer: “My parents did all the invitations and order of services, keeping with the blue thistle theme and The Cruin did all the table names and seating plans.”
Hair: Asteria Bridal “Pamela listened to me and did exactly what I was both looking for and suited me. She was also brilliant with my mum, sister and two little nieces without needing a trial for them.”
Make up: Asteria Bridal “I never wear much makeup usually so didn’t want to not look myself on the day but Jennifer did such a great job of making me look natural but a better version of myself.”
