Teenage sweethearts marry in gorgeous + sophisticated wedding at Assynt House, Evanton

Teenage sweethearts Leanne and Andrew had been together since they were 14, and were so excited to finally plan their wedding day together at Assynt House, Evanton.

The couple celebrated their wedding day on a late summer’s day, and went for a gorgeous and sophisticated burgundy and cream colour scheme. While the infamous Scottish rain made an appearance early in the day, it certainty didn’t dim the beauty of this happy couple’s wedding day!

Meeting husband and wife team Graham and Elizabeth who own Assynt House really sealed the deal for us when it came to booking our wedding venue – they were so friendly and welcoming. The grounds are so beautiful, and ultimately there was really nowhere else we could see ourselves getting married. We didn’t view any other venues – we were immediately sold!

Due to the size of our families, we decided to opt for a marquee in the grounds of Assynt House. We had hoped to get married in the garden but it was raining unfortunately, so had the ceremony in the marquee. As soon as the vows were over the sun came out so we were able to have drinks and canapes outside and get some photos taken, which was lucky!

My mum and sister helped decorate the entrance to the marquee with some second hand pieces of furniture, including a small couch and drinks tables, which turned out to be a great stopping point for our guests to sit and chill out.

For our ceremony decor, our florist created a hanging floral installation which made the marquee look so beautiful. During the ceremony, we stood on a bohemian rug next to a floral archway. We loved the idea of being able to keep the rug and remember over the years it’s where we stood as we got married.

Being married is amazing! We’ve been together since we were 14 and have talked about getting married for years, so it’s been a long time coming. It’s so lovely to be able to say we’re husband and wife after all these years. Everyone has been waiting to see us get married for so long so it really was such a special day, surrounded by our nearest and dearest friends and family.
