SWD’s Rachel escapes to the countryside to unwind at this hidden gem, Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel + Spa.
Now, I’m not saying Scotland isn’t beautiful in all types of weather, but I feel like I’ve lucked out when I arrive at the Aberdeen Ardoe House Hotel + Spa on a rare day of blue skies and spring sun.
Sunshine or showers, it would be hard not to be blown away by this four-star 19th-century mansion house, complete with magnificent turrets and spires.
Set in 30 acres of tranquil Aberdeenshire countryside, and with breathtaking views over the River Dee, it’s the place to go if you want to relax in opulent surroundings.
Our room, the Manire Suite, is on the second floor, accessed by an impressive staircase presided over by ancient stained glass windows.
Although the mansion house is steeped in history, the décor has been subtly updated, with new tartans and bold, patterned colours giving the right balance of grandeur and tradition, with a 21st-century twist.
The suite is bright and spacious, with stunning views, a standalone bath and striking fireplace.
Your guests will be able to enjoy a luxury stay too, with special rates on the 120 bedrooms and complimentary use of the spa facilities – score!
Following a sumptuous champagne afternoon tea, I take a walk around the expansive grounds before arriving at the Ballroom, which can be tailored to accommodate up to an astounding 500 guests.
Alongside the four other function rooms – and the additional option of having your wedding ceremony outdoors in the beautiful grounds – there really are so many options in the one venue, whatever your party size.
You’ll also love the new hen party packages, comprising accommodation, dinner, breakfast and a spa treatment from £95 per person!
Ardoe is now also able to offer wedding exclusivity to all couples to ensure they are the only wedding taking place, with no extra charge, available on any remaining date.
As if the setting isn’t enough, good food and drink is a top priority at Ardoe. You’ll find expertly crafted cocktails in The Laird (the ideal night-before-the-wedding hangout) and award-winning chefs in Blairs Restaurant.
Your wedding breakfast is truly in safe hands.
