SWD’s Rachel gets a look at the brand new Kat Von D Beauty arrivals.
If you’ve been browsing in the Debenhams Glasgow beauty hall over the past year, you’ve probably noticed one beauty counter which is always busy – and with good reason.
Since arriving in Glasgow nearly a year ago, the Kat Von D Beauty concession has been a serious hit. Makeup lovers can’t get enough of the collections including the, now famous, Tattoo Eyeliner – and that’s just the beginning.
Built on her animal cruelty-free ethics, Kat is also working to make all of her products to be completely vegan too.
KAT VON D BEAUTY IN GLASGOW
This year sees Kat, tattoo-artist-turned-beauty-icon, celebrate 10 years in the beauty business. 2018 is not only a year for celebrations, but also for new product launches.
That’s why I’m here today: to check out the gorgeous new releases and have a bit of a KVD makeover, courtesy of the talented on-counter team.
It’s an exceptionally exciting day for the brand too as Kat, only hours before, announced she and husband, Leafar Seyer, are pregnant with their first child!
My makeup artist for the afternoon, Nina, is lovely and seriously knowledgeable about the products and beauty as a whole. Oh, and her own makeup is perfect, which is always a good sign!
After battling the elements to get to my appointment (seriously, Glasgow, will you give it a break with the winter weather already) my makeup is pretty much non-existent.
So, first things first, a foundation match. Using the special Lock-It edge foundation brush, Nina starting applying the miracle-working Lock-It foundation onto my skin. I could not believe the coverage; it gave a natural-looking finish, but also covered every blemish and bit of redness.
I think I became a bit gushy after that and frantically noted down which shade Nina used (Neutral, in case you were really desperate to know) – my skin looked amazing!
Just look at that left brow: Nina is a brow magician!
What might look like just another brow pencil was so much more: the super precise elliptical tip allows you to create the most natural, hair-like brow strokes. I could not stop staring at my new brows!
M&S Food Hall: I’m ready for my close up…
Finishing the look, we went for my fave: a smokey eye and nude lip combo. I loved my makeup so much, I felt a bit disappointed I was only coming back to the office (no offence, Team SWD). Surely I should be off somewhere more glam with my glam face…? At least I managed to show off my perfect makeup in the M&S Food Hall before my return. Nothing says glamorous setting like the M&S sandwich fridge, eh?
THE NEW LAUNCHES
Anyway, M&S face debut aside, I also got a good look at the new product launches. As I mentioned above, the Brow Struck dimension powder and Signature Brow precision pencil are two new launches, alongside the Super Brow 24-hour long-wear pomade which comes in your more natural colours, but there’s also some more ‘out there’ shades, like the seriously brave Daffodil yellow!
Now, the next products aren’t technically new, but some returning favourites that KVD fans will know and love.
Firstly is the Studded Kiss Crème lipsticks, a gorgeously nourishing lipstick with plenty of pigmentation. Also returning is the KVD fragrance, after much demand from her loyal fan-base. I loved the ‘Saint’ eau de parfum, especially the gorgeous bottle – perfect for your bridal dressing table.
Oh and, before I forget, I was also told of a v. special collection to mark the brand’s 10 year anniversary, with the limited edition gold packaging edition coming soon.
There we have it: I’m a complete Kat Von D Beauty convert!
