Summer garden party wedding day at family home, Millearne

Having your wedding at your house could go either way, but couple Melissa and Ollie pulled it off when they tied the knot at Melissa’s family home, Millearne. The garden party themed day went so well that the family have decided to market the house as a wedding venue – now that’s a successful wedding!

Read about the day from bride Melissa’s point of view…

We went for a Garden Party theme for our wedding and had a marquee on our front lawns which overlooked the amazing views of the Ochil Hills. We used pinks, creams and whites to create a sense of soft elegance which we thought worked well for a summer wedding. We wanted the food, wine and entertainment to be the highlights for the guests, and that the day flowed easily and made people feel like they weren’t just hanging around waiting for the next thing to happen.

Millearne is my family home and the perfect venue for celebrating such an occasion as a wedding. It really lent itself to the style we were going for, especially with the lovely weather. We had beautiful views, scrumptious drinks and canapes, and our special family and friends around us – having all those things together is what made our wedding day so perfect!  Millearne is special due to its history and its stunning location and spectacular gardens, and we were even able to use Kinkell Bridge for our photos.

We were lucky enough to have Kimmie Brown from Litu Wedding Consultants to help plan our day with us. Kimmie took all the stress out of planning and ensured the day flowed. We were so impressed by how the day went and could not thank Kimmie enough for the hard work she put in and for the way she made our day so special.

We had such a great time at our wedding that we have decided to put Millearne on the wedding market as a wedding venue for couples who want a blank canvas to create their dream wedding on just as we did!

Having all our close friends and family in one place was amazing as we knew we would never have them all together at the same time again. We decided surprise our guests with Red Hot Chilli Pipers, who totally set the dance floor alight!
