Seaside wedding with a very special cake at The Bay Hotel, Kinghorn

I love a man who knows what he wants and newlywed Lewis had his mind made up when it came to Nadia. He’d spied out his wife years ago but found out she was with someone else. Not to be downhearted, Lewis kept checking to see if she was single and years later plucked up the courage to ask her out!

It clearly did the trick as the couple tied the knot last month in a gorgeous seaside wedding at The Bay Hotel, Kinghorn, shot by Lana Eve Photography.

Hear what Nadia has to say about their big day¦

“Lewis told me he was taking me to Le Monde for a night away. I never really thought much of it until my mum told me to get my nails done. I didn’t want to get my hopes up so I never really gave it too much thought. When we got to Le Monde they upgraded us to the Paris room which was so appropriate for the occasion! I went to get ready for dinner and when I came through from having a bath Lewis had lit loads of tea light candles and put petals on the bed. He was waiting down on one knee and popped the question. It was so nice just being the two of us as I wouldn’t have liked a big proposal in front of people! It was just perfect!

Our wedding was all about having one big celebration for our marriage. We wanted it to be very laid back and not too formal. I found wedding planning a breeze, in fact I really enjoyed it! In my job I do hair and make-up and work with brides all the time so I knew what was involved already.

We chose The Bay because I really wanted views of the sea and the hotel’s views are stunning! It’s such a calm and peaceful place and there are fantastic beaches and places nearby for our photos. They have turned out amazingly!

For our colour scheme I wanted to mix tones that would be slightly different but still soft. I went for very pale peach, ivory and a dusty blue. It was gorgeous!

I loved going shopping for my dress. I always knew I wanted sleeves, lace and lots of detail and wanted my dress to be sheer at the back so I thought I was going to have difficulty finding the perfect one! My mum and I went for an appointment with The Wedding Bee. I didn’t want too many opinions and I knew if my mum cried it would be the right dress. We told the staff exactly what I was after and they had one dress in the shop with sleeves. It was also fishtail which was amazing! I tried it on and straight away I just felt a million dollars. It took me half an hour to find my wedding dress!

I remember loving Kate Middleton’s earrings and I wanted just the right amount of bling without being tacky. I went straight to Lily Luna in Edinburgh and it was like a treasure chest. There are just drawers and cabinets full of sparkly jewellery and head pieces “ my kind of heaven! The staff helped me pick the right head piece and earrings and it was perfect on the day!

I also knew I wanted a cathedral length veil. The Wedding Bee tried one on me and it completed my dress. It all tied in and looked so classy, not too over the top!

When I first got into my dress on my wedding day it was like a whole new dress with the hair and make-up. I couldn’t stop smiling and felt like a princess. I was so sad having to take it off at the end of the night. I’ll never sell my dress. I’ll probably get part of it made into a baby outfit or something that I can have as a keepsake.

Our DJ, Stephen J Elliott Wedding DJ, made our wedding day, from start to finish. He was there all day as our master of ceremonies. He’s not a DJ, he’s an entertainer! My family is Italian and Stephen decided to introduce us to our meal dancing to Italian songs. It really made our day and got everyone up on their feet. Everyone has commented on how brilliant it was!

We bought our first home together last January and four months later it went on fire. For our wedding cake, to make light of the situation and to thank all the people at the wedding who helped make our house a home again, we had a half and half wedding cake. Half was a burning down house and half was traditional “ everyone loved it!

The best moment from the day was just before we had our pudding Stephen got everyone on their feet, having us waving our napkins in the air and singing along to Sweet Caroline. This really got everyone in the right mood for the night reception. It will be a moment we will never forget!

After our wedding I just felt so happy and so lucky that all our family and friends wanted to come and celebrate with us. I don’t feel sad that it’s over as I was very tired from the running around. Maybe that will change in months to come!
