We’ve got the best castle wedding venues in the country, so it came as no surprise when one of our own came out on top at a national awards ceremony last week.
Carlowrie Castle‘s win was announced at the prestigious UK Wedding Awards in a glittering ceremony in London’s fashionable Mayfair.
The castle in Kirkliston, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, hosts over 90 weddings a year and a further 60 corporate and private events.
Andrew Marshall, CEO, says, “Providing exceptional service in stunning surroundings is at the heart of what we do, and we are delighted to be recognised in this year’s UK Wedding Awards.
“It’s a fantastic testament to the flawless experience that our team delivers to each couple on their special day.”
Carlowrie was built for Edinburgh-based Provost of Leith, Thomas Hutchison who commissioned celebrated Scottish architect David Rhind in 1852.
The castle was used as a family home until 2012 when previous resident Andrew recognised its potential as an exclusive-use venue.
He purchased the building from his parents and transformed it into the contemporary, luxurious venue it is today.
Weddings at Carlowrie capture the unique luxury of the castle alongside the 32 acres of perfectly maintained grounds and beautiful walled gardens.
The castle features a glamorous bar and cuisine from an award-winning chef, with two main events spaces.
The elegant orangery accommodates 110 guests for your wedding breakfast or 190 for a drinks reception while larger affairs are held in the stunning marquee (300 for dinner, 500 evening reception).
