Laughter, dancing and bundles of gorge flowers made Ashleigh and Scotland and Rangers footballer Ryan’s wedding the day of dreams!
Ryan and Ashleigh first met when they were 16 and just out of school, and were together for seven years before the Rangers midfielder popped the question.
Ashleigh had known he was The One for a long time, citing the birth of their daughter as an experience that really cemented their bond.
“When we had our daughter, Madison, I looked at Ryan in a totally different way,” says Ashleigh. “He was an amazing dad from day one.”
When it came to planning the wedding, there was one thing at the top of Ashleigh’s to-do list: fabulous décor.
“I knew I wanted Jordana Events to design my wedding, so my first thought was to get her booked!” recalls the bride.
“I let her take control of everything as she has such a good reputation and I knew she would do an amazing job.”
It was love at first sight when finding their big day venue too. “Meldrum House Hotel has lovely grounds and the ballroom had been newly built, so it still had a modern feel to it,” says Ashleigh.
Saying yes to the dress was quite an occasion for the bride as she had her mum, mum-in-law-to-be, two grandmas and her four bridesmaids along!
A good thing too: “It was actually my grandma and mum who loved my dress when I tried it on,” remembers Ashleigh. “I wasn’t sure at first, but I tried it on again for them and fell in love.”
The happy couple chose to have a humanist ceremony with a family focus. “As part of our vows, we had Madison come up and receive a ring from Ryan. Everyone clapped and it was a bit emotional seeing her so happy,” says Ashleigh.
For their first dance, the newlyweds chose a real classic.
“Everyone knows my favourite part of a party is at the end when I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) comes on and it gets everyone up dancing together, so we decided to have an acoustic version. The music cut out due to a technical issue, but all our guests started singing “ it made it really special.”
It was a real day of celebration for the couple and their loved ones. “Everyone was up dancing and having a great time. I wish we could do it all over!” says Ashleigh.
