Choosing the venue for their big day, police officers Jade and Dougie knew the perfect romantic spot. “We go to Greywalls every Valentine’s Day so it has always held very special memories for us,” they say. “We are both self-confessed foodies and the food is simply amazing.”
The couple, who work together, opted for a romantic elegant theme that suited their venue to a tee. “Everything tied in well together to give a very classic overall look,” remembers Jade. Lianne at Roseparks created beautiful hydrangea and rose arrangements, perfectly matching the classic elegant theme.
Before the big day dawned they got to know their photographer Jonathon pretty well, having fun with a pre-wedding photoshoot. “From the first time we met with Jonathon we knew we had found our photographer,” the couple remembers. “His work was timeless, he was very knowledgeable and compiled a package specifically for our requirements. We loved our pre-wedding photoshoot, it was great fun and Jonathon travelled out to Tyninghame beach in East Lothian “ one of our favourite places “ where he photographed us and our Labrador puppy, Daisy. Our wedding photographs were of such a high quality and exceeded our expectations. Our friends and family commented on how professional yet friendly he was on the day.”
Jade found her gorgeously embellished True Bride gown for gliding down the aisle at Sophia Grace Couture. “Naydene and Hannah were so helpful every time I visited the boutique,” she smiles. “I never felt rushed and picking ˜the one’ was so much fun with their help and guidance. Serafina was fantastic when it came to the alterations and nothing was too much hassle.”
And Serafina also came up with another gem when one of her contacts was able to make perfectly matching wedding earrings from extra beading that came from Jade’s wedding dress.
When the big day finally arrived make-up artist Nicci Weston was on hand to help Jade and her girls get in the mood. “Her work is fantastic,” she says. “My make-up was flawless and she certainly calmed my nerves the morning of the wedding with her bubbly personality. Nicci took her time when doing my bridal party’s make-up, nothing was rushed. I would recommend Nicci to any future brides.”
Looking back the couple have some words of wisdom for other brides and grooms-to-be. “Trying to keep everyone happy can never be done so we made a point of planning the wedding we wanted,” they say. “We had the most magical day and have no regrets as it’s exactly how we wanted it to be.”
And Jade and Dougie loved their big day from beginning to end. “Just celebrating our marriage with all of our friends and family who have supported us through the years we’ve been together was the best part,” Jade remembers. “My gran sadly passed away a few weeks after our wedding so it was so special knowing she had spent our wedding day with us.”
The couple don’t think marriage has changed them much though working together it’s thrown up a challenge or two! “It is taking some time to get used to the name change, especially since we work in the same office,” says Jade. “Thankfully we are still the same couple we have always been and getting married hasn’t changed that. We still enjoy all the same things and both feel very content.”
