Romantic blush pink fairytale wedding day at Drumtochty Castle, Auchenblae

Julia and Charlie chose a romantic fairytale setting for their weekend-long wedding celebration.

Captured beautifully by The Gibsons, every detail was thought of, creating a truly gorgeous theme.

Here, bride Julia tells us more about their dream wedding…

We met thanks to a match at Murrayfield. I was working as a conference and event sales manager whilst Charlie was watching the game with friends.

Our paths crossed during a post-match celebration, and that was that.

Sadly, just five months later, my dad unexpectedly passed away. Charlie was my rock – I’d already known he was The One, but seeing how he stuck by my side during that tough time reinforced how special he is.

We’d just returned from a weekend in London and stopped at a local country estate to walk our dog, Knox.

Charlie had secretly placed a hand-carved wooden statue there and that’s where he got down on bended knee, Knox at his side!

Drumtochty Castle is an enchanting, opulent and romantic setting, and the perfect venue to celebrate our wedding in style.

Dramatic views, neutral colour scheme, sumptuous stately home – what more could you want?

Our wedding party had exclusive use of the venue for the entire weekend, which was so lovely.

The staff were super attentive throughout, letting our guests (and us!) relax and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings.

Creating a wedding inspiration board was one of the first things I did. I wanted an autumnal opulence theme, with flashes of blush pink and lots of candles to add a soft romantic edge.

Having an A-team of suppliers and strong visual references to share with them meant we were able to rely on them completely to make our vision a reality.

Nikki, the general manager at Drumtochty, even made sure fences were repainted for our photos in the grounds!

My brother’s heartfelt speech was one of the most memorable moments from the day. He wowed us all by imparting his lessons of love for the future, and I loved it so much I asked him to type it up afterwards so I could have it framed for our home.

Planning a wedding is a huge balancing act, but the hard work definitely paid off.

Every detail was exquisite, and looking out from the top table to see all our guests enjoying the food and festivities gave us so much pleasure.
