SWD visits… Cornhill Castle’s stunning Balmoral honeymoon suite [Review]

Digital editor Steph Telfer was one of the first people to visit the stunningly refurbished Balmoral honeymoon suite at Cornhill Castle in Biggar, Lanarkshire.

That’s where the Balmoral Suite at Cornhill Castle sets itself apart.

The suite, completed in September 2017, is located in one of the original castle turrets and stretches upwards over three floors.

It’s more of a luxury honeymoon flat-that-I-wish-I-owned than a suite!

The redevelopment programme at Cornhill Castle, also known as the castle on the Clyde, totals £850,000, with £200,000 of that spent on the luxurious suite.

Walk up the winding staircase to the amazing bedroom where you’ll be met by high ceilings accented with a huge and opulent sparkling chandelier hanging above the bed.

The décor throughout is beautiful and tasteful; I can imagine the bridal party getting ready here and getting some lovely photographs taken in matching robes on the velvet couch.

Step down from the bedroom into a sunken area to find a large hot tub bath, a two-person sauna and a massive rainfall shower built into one of the castle turrets.

I especially loved the hidden dressing table area. Throw open the doors to find every girl’s dream, a light-up Hollywood style mirror with a pull out chair, all ready for you to do your hair and make-up. No more sitting uncomfortably on the floor next to a mirror!

Open the door at the top of the staircase and you’re greeted with a unique, one-of-a-kind room that you won’t find anywhere else: a room dedicated to champagne. Could a room be any more perfect?

Bottles of fizz adorn the specially adapted walls, and in the centre of the room, a special bottle sits waiting in the fridge, chilled exactly to the right temperature.

I really, really need one of these in my own flat!

The completion of the Balmoral Suite concludes a nine-month redevelopment programme which included a gorgeous new grand ballroom, perfect for your wedding celebrations.
