Cara and Craig’s relaxed big day was all about the personal DIY details, laid-back dining and plenty of laughter. Sounds pretty perfect to me!

Craig and I had been friendly for many years, but it wasn’t until an alcohol-fuelled day at the Edinburgh Festival that we began to see each other in another light.
We make each other laugh and always have great fun whatever we are doing. I think laughter is what brought us together. After two years together, Craig proposed to me at my family’s chalet in Largiemore.
First on our To Do list was finding our perfect venue, which we discovered in St Andrews’ Kinkell Byre.
We visited it once and fell in love with its beautiful scenery coupled with a blank canvas we could make our own. Our theme was DIY and rustic, something which naturally complemented the converted barn venue.
We wanted the wedding to be unique to us. We planned our day ourselves with the help of family and friends.
My dress shopping experience was short and sweet as I knew what I wanted my dress to be; mid-length and a step away from a traditional gown.
I found the dress I wanted online and a couple of days later, my mum called me to say she had spotted it in Coast and bought it for me, as she loved it as much as I did.
The day before the wedding was spent in the hotel bar at Fairmont St Andrews! I had a really relaxed time on the morning of the wedding. It wasn’t until 2pm so we had plenty of time for beautifying!
When I arrived at the ceremony, I started to feel emotional. I walked down the aisle to the Moulin Rouge version of Your Song, and the tears started streaming down my face, and continued to do so for the majority of our humanist ceremony.
Our guests were treated to the music of The Easy Orchestra whilst sipping champagne and indulging in delicious canapes: haggis balls, macaroni bites, bao buns and fish tacos.
We didn’t want a formal sit-down meal and decided to go for burger and chips from Burger Meats Bun. You can’t go wrong with a tasty burger!
We decided not to have a first dance, and asked all of our guests to join us on the dancefloor where we ended up staying for most of the night. It was a wild party!
We had the best day, and we wouldn’t change a thing about it.
As a wedding gift, Craig surprised me with a honeymoon to New York. Being married is fabulous.
I don’t feel like anything has changed; we’re still very much in love.
