For this bride and groom, finding a venue they could relax in with their close family was paramount and they admit to not having much of a theme. But their gorgeous blooms and cute lanterns added a vintage vibe to their big day.

“We wanted a venue where our close family could all stay together for a few nights and Ballogie offered just that,” says Sophie.
“It was private too so really felt like a break away.
“The views were amazing and we wanted somewhere that had lovely outdoor space!
“Ballogie has a stunning location and views and Helen from the venue was so organised too. We wanted someone who could help keep us on track!
“The hot tub was a bonus too!”
While the couple didn’t opt for a specific theme their flowers and some of their decorations added a definite rustic feel to their day – a look they loved.
“Ballogie House is so beautiful in its own right that you really don’t need to do much,” says Sophie.
“We used Cymbeline Events for the gorgeous decorations in the marquee including the hanging lanterns. They were so great.
“Forbes Flowers Alford did our table flowers. They were all grown locally in Alford and were beautiful!
My mum’s friend did our bouquets and the men’s buttonholes which were stunning!”
For her dress, Sophie headed to Perfect Bridal Rooms in Aberdeen and fell in love with her beautiful lace Stella York gown.
“I love it so much and want to put it on again already!” she smiles.
She accessorised with pretty pearl earrings her mum gave her for her 21st birthday and shoes from Charlotte Mills. “I love them!” she says.
“They were so comfy and I didn’t feel like I needed to take them off the whole day!”
The couple tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony inside their marquee, including a handfasting using two types of tartan.
They then left their guests to be entertained by Roccoco String Quartet, (who had played Sophie down the aisle) and took off by themselves for their photos in Archie, the cool campervan from Deeside Campervan.
“The drive after we got married was so special,” remembers Sophie. “It was really special to just have a bit of time to sit back together and take the day in.”
After the wedding breakfast the dancing started and Sophie looks back fondly on “the best ceilidh of our lives!”
“Our band were awesome and had everyone up dancing all night.
“It was a huge party with all our closest friends and family!”
Now that it’s all over Sophie says it’s amazing to know she’s married her best friend.
“I’m also loving saying Jamie is my husband,” she says.
She advises other brides to not stress about the small stuff.
“I know it might seem hard because you really get caught up in the planning but everything will be just perfect on the day!”
The two are planning on honeymooning in New Zealand and campervanning their way round.
“Jamie’s a massive Lord of the Rings fan so this will be his dream come true!” says Sophie.
“We also love spending time outdoors and New Zealand seems like the perfect place.”
