They don’t call it the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond for nothing. The area has long been lauded for being a tranquil, romantic setting for a wedding. Nothing says Scots wedding more Lodge on Loch Lomond “ its local menu and tartan-clad interior not to the venue’s heritage, while the crackling fireplace in the lobby and lodge-style accommodation offers an intimate, romantic feel.
“I love Loch Lomond and visited there lots growing up,” begins recent bride Katy. “Phil is originally from Warrington but, when he saw [Lodge on Loch Lomond], he thought it was beautiful¦ we knew we had to get married there!”
The couple wanted a wedding that complemented the hotel’s gorgeous, rustic setting. Holding their big day in the hotel’s gorgeous Glen Luss suite, which features an outdoor patio that leads right down onto the beach. “We didn’t have a specific theme but I knew that I wanted things to tie in with the setting.”
The couple used burlap details as décor on the tables, favours and cake and had wooden heart log slices on the tables. Katy’s talented mum created the couple’s wedding stationery, which had a stag detail to tie in with the Lodge!
As for the day itself, Katy struggles to pick a particular highlight. “The whole day was amazing,” she beams. “We had a humanist ceremony and [our celebrant] Claire did such an excellent job, the whole ceremony was really personal and she put us completely at ease.” Another special moment was when, after the band had finished up for the night, the guests all lit sparklers on the patio.
Katy and Phil are loving married life. “It fels like it did before but more sparkly,” she smiles. “I love introducing Phil as my husband and planning our lives together as husband and wife!”
