Looking through wedding photos is always a joy – couples look so in love that it’s practically contagious.
That’s exactly how I felt looking at Rhian and Amy’s wedding; I couldn’t help but feel happy just from flicking through their photographs!
Find out more about their big day from bride Rhian (the brunette!) below…
“Amy proposed to me in Amsterdam. My favourite flowers are orange tulips so she took me to the flower markets and then a romantic bar on one of the canals.
She went to buy a bottle of prosecco and came back with a handmade sign saying “Will you marry me?” and got down on one knee.
We knew we wanted a really feminine wedding but not overly girly. We both love winter colours like greens and reds but we were careful not to have the room look like a Christmas hall.
Bringing the pinks into the day really helped to brighten up the winter theme.
Senga Ishaq was the humanist celebrant at my brother’s wedding and as it was such a beautiful personal ceremony, we thought it would be more personal if she married us too.
We designed the entire ceremony with her help and picked the vows that resonated most with us. We loved saying them. There were no nerves, just massive smiles.
My sister in law Elaine was pivotal in helping to steer us in the right direction for almost every part of the day. She is very artistic and without her, the day just would not have looked so perfect.
Both of our mums were a great help as well – especially keeping us focused on the important things. Our bridesmaids/best man were always there to lend a hand with anything we might need.
The speeches were emotional and hilarious. My brothers made a video of the most embarrassing film clips they could find of me and played it during their speech – it went down a storm and everyone was in hysterics.
Amy’s dad’s speech was beautiful and heartfelt – something we will both treasure.
We chose Friday I’m in Love by The Cure for our first dance. It’s always been our favourite song and the words have always reminded us of each other.
The atmosphere at the reception was amazing. We were having the time of our lives.
In general, we feel the same as before but more secure knowing we are married and have made this commitment to each other.
We feel we’ve waited so long to call each other ‘wife’ that we’re over the moon now that it’s just everyday.”
