“Chris and I met through mutual friends at school, and we’ve pretty much been inseparable ever since!
Our ceremony was symbolic as we had to get married at home a few weeks before for legal reasons, so we
kept it intimate with 22 guests in La Rotunda, the hotel’s ballroom for smaller ceremonies.
While the hotel had an events organiser, I did a lot of
the planning myself.
My mum was the biggest help in terms of planning the logistics around having a wedding overseas, and Chris helped with making the decisions I struggled with.
The atmosphere of The Peninsula is so special, elegant and chic. Chris and I visit Paris often, so it seemed like the perfect place.
We chose to have the floral arch as the statement piece in La Rotunda, then we kept everything minimal, chic and as elegant as possible. The Peninsula’s dedicated in-house florist built the floral arch.
I followed Louise Ballantine on Instagram for years and always loved her work, so I asked her if she would come with me to Paris for my make-up.
For my hair, Louise recommended Loredana at CherryCherry Hair – they were incredible and I’m so glad they were both there with me in Paris.
Christina from Laila Lettering designed our elegant wedding stationery.
I originally wanted a Vera Wang or Monique Lhuillier gown, but I went to London and each one I tried on drowned my small frame. I tried on one simple Peter Langner gown and was shocked at how much I loved it. Then I realised that 90% of my Pinterest wedding dress boards were filled with simple statement dresses.
The next morning I went to Suzanne Neville and she told me she could put together different aspects of different dresses that I loved to make a bespoke dress, so I was sold.
My dress was a high-necked, full-skirted gown with a belt and pockets; classic, with a modern twist.
I kept my accessories simple to help my dress shine, opting for a sleek pair of Jimmy Choo ‘Aveline’ hells.
Chris wore a custom tuxedo from Forbes in Glasgow with a classic pair of Loakes shoes.
I wanted someone who really understood my vision of the imagery, and when I found the amazing Vanessa Toth I fell in love with her work.
She came from Germany to Paris to shoot our wedding and she was incredible.
I walked down the aisle to Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi and felt calm and happy saying my vows. After the ceremony, while we had our photographs taken, we had a cocktail hour for our guests.
In the evening, we didn’t have speeches or a first dance, and just had a dinner. The whole experience was just incredible.
My advice is to follow your gut and do what makes you and your partner happy.
Have a wedding that you will truly enjoy.”
