Ryan and Stephanie always wanted to tie the knot in a castle but loved the contemporary feel of Carlowrie Castle. They then added gorgeous white blooms and plenty of candlelight for a soft, romantic feel.
Bride Stephanie shares all the details from their gorgeous day below, with photos by Julie Lamont Photography.
Ryan proposed in January. He took me for what I thought was a farewell dinner for his brother and after dinner they said they wanted to play pool at The Edinburgh Grand.
As I walked in I saw all my closest friends and family, and I can’t tell you the feeling when I turned and Ryan was down on one knee.
We always knew we wanted [to get married in] a castle, but we didn’t necessarily want the older décor that tends to come with one, so Carlowrie was beyond perfect.
For our decor we went straight to Jordana Events.
We decided to get married in the June which gave us just short of five months. Jordana was so incredibly calming.
We went for an all-white theme. We wanted a really clean, crisp and elegant look and a really romantic setting so went with lots of flowers and candles.
We got a lot of help from our family and bridal party. We never felt too overwhelmed as we had such a good support network to help us plan in such a short space of time.
I had my heart set on a particular Berta dress but when I tried it on it was nothing like I hoped.
Then my sister pulled a different one off the rail and as soon as I tried it on I had this distinct feeling of “I’ve found it.”
Ryan wrote me a letter for the morning of the wedding and I think that was the most special part of my day aside from seeing him and actually getting married. It meant more than anything.
The whole ceremony was so surreal and emotional and I loved every minute.
I was really nervous, but it went away as soon as I saw Ryan and I didn’t think about anything apart from him.
The Function Band were phenomenal. They had everyone standing on their chairs during the starter!
Everyone danced constantly and there was never an empty dance floor.
We relocated to Australia for Ryan’s job two weeks after.
It’s the best feeling to be able to call each other husband and wife but we still love each other just as much as we did before, if not more.
