Before moving to Bulgaria, Gabriella and former Celtic FC star Anthony Watt had the dreamiest white wedding, holding their ceremony in the iconic Memorial Chapel at Glasgow University before moving on to the stunning Mar Hall.
Find out all about their beautiful wedding day in bride Grabriella’s own words below…
Anthony proposed to me on our first anniversary on the balcony of our apartment in London after a lovely day out.
We were living in London then, as he was playing for Charlton Athletic F.C.
I decided I would like to have an all-white theme for my flowers and décor.
I’d seen pictures online and it just looked so elegant and romantic. Even my bridesmaids were in white!
We had a Catholic ceremony in the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel.
We are both Catholic and were only able to marry there because it’s the university I graduated from, so it was really special.
We had a string quartet, Strings Aloud, who set the mood – it was so romantic.
I picked Canon in D by Pachelbel for the bridal entrance, and we left to Mendelssohn’s Wedding March. We felt so happy and excited to be spending the rest of our lives together.
I fell in love with [dress designer] Berta years ago and my mum and I have always loved the dresses.
I got mine from Opus Atelier: it had a full mesh body with long sheer sleeves, a drop neck and low back with a full skirt. It was completely embellished and I just loved the sparkle.
I have always loved Mar Hall and since we decided to get married at home in Scotland, it was the only choice really.
I did absolutely everything myself; I ran most things past my mum who always gave me her honest opinion, but I knew more or less what I wanted from the beginning of the process.
The Garden Pavilion at Mar Hall is a bright and airy room to begin with, so I wanted to make the most of this.
My centrepieces were really high glass vases with pure white flower domes (I had a mix of white roses and hydrangea). For my bouquet, I really wanted a statement piece. It was so luxurious and stole the show.
During our dessert, my dad surprised us with Singers Secreto, the singing waiters. Everyone was up dancing and they really got the party started.
Tony signed for a team in Bulgaria, PFC CSKA Sofia, and had to leave for pre-season two days after the wedding!
So the honeymoon is on hold for now – although we are now living in Sofia in 30-degree heat, so I can’t complain…
