When Scottish model Pamela Beattie said I Do to partner Craig Scott, it was a big day of glamour, loved ones and even a yacht reception!
The luxe wedding day was captured beautifully by Gerardo Jaconelli. Pamela talks us through their special day…
We met around 11 years ago in a nightclub in Glasgow, we dated briefly but remained good friends until we started dating again a few years later.
We got on so well as friends and the attraction was always there so I always knew we’d be where we are today!
We had been together for five or six years and went to New York for Christmas in 2015.
Craig proposed in a secluded area next to the lake in Central Park a few days before Christmas. It was perfect.
We had been living in Dubai for almost two years and were due to move back to Scotland. Dubai held so many amazing memories for us so we thought it would be the best place for us to go back with all of our friends and family for our big day.
One of my bridesmaids lives in Dubai and that was a huge help. When I was home in Scotland, she was able to oversee things for me.
The One & Only The Palm venue is absolutely beautiful. I flew to Dubai a few days before Craig and I bought all of the decor and centrepieces with the help of my bridesmaid.
At night, the courtyard is candlelit and I just wanted to enhance that. I kept everything white too, so it was nice and simple.
I have done many bridal shows and photoshoots in the past, I already knew the styles that did and didn’t suit me.
I saw my dress on the Pronovias website and I knew I had to try it.
I initially went to a bridal store in Aberdeen; I only tried that one and I loved it so I arranged a day out in Glasgow with my Mum and some of my bridesmaids and went to try it again, along with some other dresses, but I always knew I’d already found the one!
I wanted something sleek and simple, and I was looking for something that I wouldn’t be too in in the Dubai heat.
My dress is from their Atelier range and Anne Priscilla Bridal is their only stockist in Glasgow, which is where I got it from.
I gave each of my bridesmaids a bottle of wine which had personalised labels on them, asking them to be my bridesmaid. I felt really lucky to have them by my side on the day
We went to a beach club in Dubai the night before the wedding with a lot of our guests. It was a great way for everyone to meet before the wedding.
I loved the morning of the wedding. My bridesmaids came to my room early and we had some drinks together and started to get ready. Myself and two of my bridesmaids are trained makeup artists, so we did our own hair and make-up.
I had always been really nervous at the thought of walking down the aisle but I didn’t feel it on the day. I just felt really happy seeing all of our loved ones there and emotional seeing my husband, looking very handsome, waiting for me at the end.
I walked down to Pachelbel Canon in D and we had a bagpiper pipe us out after the ceremony. I wanted to make sure there were still some Scottish elements to the day.
We had a total of 37 guests at our wedding. I loved that it was small and we got to spend time with all of our guests throughout the day.
For our reception, we had a yacht collect us from The One & Only hotel and, as it sailed, it gave us the most beautiful backdrop of Dubai Marina. Everyone let their hair down on the boat and had a great time which is what we’d wanted.
We didn’t choose to have a first dance so technically our first dance was to Loch Lomond at the end of the night!
