We give the verdict on Scottish MUA, Sara Hill‘s, make up collection.
Here at SWD, we’re always so excited to try out new beauty brands. It gives us a chance to try out a new look – and it also allows us to pass on our fave beauty recommendations to you for your big day and beyond.
One brand we were super keen to try out was Sara Hill. Not only did the products look fab (just check out that packaging!), we love that Sara is actually Glasgow born and bred. We’ve come over all patriotic!
SARA HILL MAKEUP
The independent make-up brand offers something new to the market. As well as a kaleidoscopic colour range of must-have products for every person, Sara Hill is inspired by fashion; a non-conformist, expert beauty that doesn’t patronise, apologise or explain.
With over 22 years in the industry, Sara has worked internationally on many fashion campaigns and with notable celebs too, from Kanye West and Emeli Sande to Grace Jones and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, so you know your makeup bag is in safe hands with Sara’s products.
Here’s our pick of some of our current faves (which, FYI, are now sold on worldwide beauty site, Cult Beauty – impressive!)
LITTLE POP CONCEALER (£17)
Sara describes this concealer as ‘like a magical invisibility cloak for imperfections’ – and we have to agree. The formula is really creamy and lightweight, but a little goes a long way and can be built up to cover blemishes, spots and dark circles.
There are six shades to choose from, but we tried Biscuit, Custard Cream and Milk Bottle.
VELVET SHEER FOUNDATION (£30)
Most suited for those who like a light coverage, this foundation is extremely lightweight and hydrating.
With a demi-matte/real skin look finish, there’s no risk of a ‘caked-on’ foundation feel and it also contains Vitamins A, E, B5, Panthenol and soy bean extract that conditions the skin and provides antioxidant protection.
Great for days where you want a no-makeup makeup look!
PINK OPAL PIGMENT (£16)
Like a magical unicorn dust, Sara Hill’s pigment pots have to be one of our faves. We opted for the pink opal shade, a wonderfully pearlescent pink-white shade of dreams.
Although you may think a product like this would just be for your eyes, you would be wrong! This long-lasting pigment also acts as a great highlighter, great for any big girls’ night outs you have coming up (i.e. your hen).
Simply apply with an eyeshadow brush, and you can also with water or eye gloss for a wet metal effect.
‘CHAMPAGNE’ EYESHADOW (£16)
We are obsessed with this subtle shimmer eyeshadow. Rich, highly pigmented and smooth with a luxurious texture, the product is great to blend with darker colours for a smokey eye.
We’re also really here for the shade being called ‘champagne’!
Long-lasting, smudge-proof, weightless, high-impact, super-pigmented and enriched with softening, nourishing shea butter, avocado, jojoba and vitamins A, C and E to continuously condition and moisturise as you wear it – what a hard working lipstick!
Available in ten shades with both matte and shimmer finishes, we chose the fabulously named ˜Matte Damon’. A perfect creamy pink lippie, complete with a great pun – what could be better?!
