Each week we’re asking a different Scottish make-up artist or hair stylist to let us in on the one hero beauty product that’s always in their kit.
This week it’s the turn of Sharon from Make up by Sharon Cuthbert. Here’s what she says:
HOW DID YOU BECOME A MAKE-UP ARTIST?
“I’ve been in the beauty industry for 16 years. I have worked for luxury skincare and make up brands, receiving high end training in London, Manchester and Edinburgh.
“After becoming a fully trained skin care specialist and having two sons by the age of 22, I wanted to further my career.
“In 2006 I decided to use my artistic and creative mind so I put myself through two years at Clydebank College, studying Make-up artistry.
“This is where I realised I had a true passion for make-up and pursued my dream job as a bridal make-up artist. Being able to make people smile and see themselves so beautiful really gives me great pleasure.
My first bridal make-up was in 2007 and since then I have been lucky enough to be part of hundreds of beautiful weddings throughout Scotland, even travelling to Ireland and Cyprus.”
WHAT IS YOUR HERO BEAUTY PRODUCT?
“My hero beauty product is Strobe cream by Mac Cosmetics, which I always ensure is in my kit. I use this product on almost everyone.
“It is excellent for boosting skin radiance, giving that beautifully hydrated glow which everyone wants, right?!
“As this product is so universal I would say it can be used on most brides. Unless a bride wants a full matte look, I would always opt for this hero product.”
WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR APPLYING?
“I mix a pea size amount through foundation and apply it as one using a thick foundation brush. It’s also a very good product for thinning out concealers for a more natural look without having that “caked” impression, especially under the eye area.
“Another great tip for this product is to sweep some cream over the high points of the shoulders, across the collar bone and down the shin of the legs to give that smooth and near perfect luminous skin appeal which looks beautiful in both natural light and photographs.”
