Laid back family-focused wedding day at The Lodge on Loch Goil, Lochgoilhead

Sarah and Adam had a family-focused wedding day surrounded by their nearest and dearest, beautifully captured by Iris Art Photography.

Here, bride Sarah gives us a glimpse into their big day…

We met on Fraser Island in Australia while we were both travelling around the world.

After we got speaking, we discovered we actually lived in the same block of flats in Glasgow at the time, but had never met!

We were away with friends staying in Lochgoilhead for the weekend and came across the wedding venue. We decided to stop and have a nosey.

We both fell in love with the venue and decided together to just book the wedding there and then.

I am really lucky to be surrounded by lots of people who enjoy planning weddings!

I wasn’t too fussy about a lot of things, so I frequently delegated decisions to trusted friends and family members.

I went for a laid-back rustic themed wedding with lots of fairy lights, tea lights in jars, bunting and pastel colours. I tried to keep it laid back and relaxed, and my bridesmaid and flower girls all wore different outfits.

I wore a diamond bracelet that my husband bought me after we had our first child Emma, and earrings that I had made especially for the wedding. I wore a small headpiece and my sister gave me her veil, which I loved!

The morning of the wedding went by so fast. I got my hair and make-up done in Glasgow, and then headed up to Lochgoilhead where there was afternoon tea and prosecco for us on arrival.

We had something to eat before heading up to the room to get dressed.

We had pianist and singer The Glasgow Piano Man for during the ceremony and drinks reception.

For walking down the aisle, he played Gracie by Ben Folds, which is a song that inspired us to name our youngest child Grace.

During the signing of the register, he played Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay, which is a song we listened to and sang a lot to our eldest, Emma, while I was pregnant.

My favourite memory from the speeches was my daughter Emma. She was laughing her head off in all the right places, despite not understanding what anybody was saying and just generally entertaining everybody! She has a very fun character that we love so much.

We had The Mac Bros play for our evening reception, who were once on The Voice! I don’t think I moved off the dancefloor all night.

I loved dancing with all my brothers and sisters who I don’t get to see so much because we all live in different parts of the world. It made me really happy to have us all together!
