Beautifully intimate wedding day at Haddington Registry Office, East Lothian

Advertising FeatureIf there was ever a great reason to get your friends and family together for weekend-long celebrations, it’s a wedding. Kerry and Keith did exactly that by getting married on Friday then having a reception party on Saturday.

And why not? After a 10-year engagement, they thoroughly deserved an amazing couple of days filled with celebrations!

“We held our wedding over two days, and had our ceremony at the local registry office on the Friday, which is in a beautiful old court building in the town where we live. It meant a lot to us that we could get married where we lived, and incorporate the town into our celebrations.

Our good friends offered us the use of their garden to have our meal and speeches in after the ceremony, which is situated within Inveresk Estate outside of Edinburgh.

We have spent many happy evenings with them there, and so it was very kind of them to let us celebrate part of our wedding at their home; not to mention it proved a beautiful backdrop for our wedding photographs.

On the Saturday evening, we held our wedding reception party at the village hall in Aberlady.

As soon as we saw it we fell in love with it and we loved the location. I straightaway had ideas in my head for wedding decor, especially a fairylight ceiling!

We are both massive foodies so our highlight was definitely the outstanding food we had. It was lovely to relax with family and friendly and enjoy some hearty food. The caterers were absolutely fantastic, and the buffet for the reception party was just as delicious as the wedding breakfast.

We couldn’t decide on our first dance song between two choices so we let the DJ pick for us “ he made the right choice with Lifening by Snow Patrol “ so it was nice to get a little surprise!

We got married on our 15 year anniversary after a 10-year engagement “ better late than never! It was lovely to be able to have our two children share our special day with us.

It is really amazing to finally have gotten married after all our years together. Life hasn’t changed massively but then, we didn’t want it to.
