Anyone who’s planned a home hen (or any hen do, let’s be honest) will know the struggle is real when it comes to arranging activities that haven’t been done a million times before.
In an age where everyone wants to put a personal stamp on every aspect of their wedding – including the celebrations that come before it – it can be somewhat challenging to organise a hen party that reflects the bride-to-be while being crowd-pleasing enough for all hens to have fun.
Obviously, we get to see all kinds of hen party ideas at the magazine. But rather unexpectedly, it’s Harvey Nichols that’s caught our eye with its latest alternative hen party offering for Edinburgh hens – and it’s surprisingly budget-friendly.
The luxury department store is doing a series of Movies & Shakers evenings over the coming summer months and it’s a brilliant idea.
On each evening, attendees will be treated to a three-course meal in the Brasserie, a screening of a classic film (I’ve got my eye on Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and a cocktail inspired by said movie.
Tickets cost £37.50 and the evening kicks off at 6.30pm, followed by the screening at 8pm.
The summer schedule is as follows.
Tuesday 14th May: Rear Window
Tuesday 28th May: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Tuesday 11th June: Jaws
Wednesday 26th June: National Lampoon’s Vacation
Tuesday 9th July: Stand By Me
Tuesday 23rd July: Dirty Dancing
And if none of those dates or films grab your fancy, you could even arrange a bespoke night where you’d get a dinner and cocktail tailored to your tastes followed by a private screening of a movie of your choosing (subject to availability).
Why not make the hen film-themed and have everyone dress up as their fave characters from the silver screen? You could even get cute personalised popcorn bags, like this one from Etsy.
