After several weeks of frustration trying to source fabric for a wedding dress and bridesmaids’s dresses - I found The Dress Fabric Company and all my problems disappeared! Gwenyth could not have been more helpful - taking time to find out exactly what I needed and what I was aiming to achieve - making several helpful suggestions. I cannot praise too highly the service and efficiency I experienced with the Dress Fabric Company. Gwenyth was warm and generous with her time and made the whole experience very encouraging and enjoyable.

Gwenyth at The Dress Fabric Company is a fountain of knowledge and has been so helpful! We visited with seeds of ideas for a wedding dress and a bridesmaid dress that she helped to develop and grow into reality. She holds a range of beautiful fabrics and sourced for us the most exquisite lace - her eye for detail is second to none. She takes a genuine interest and allows time to get it right - an amazing lady. I can thoroughly recommend this shop.

I am overjoyed at finding the most perfect fabric for my wedding outfit - all with Gwenyth's advice and kind help. I am getting married in a Dutch castle in May and Gwenyth helped me and my designer find the most exquisite silk and lace to make an outfit that is like a fairytale! Gwenyth was patient and nothing was too much trouble for her. She has a very good knowledge of fabrics and colours and yet she let me find my way gently, offering advice now and then, till I got exactly what I wanted. You are very lucky to have a place like this in Edinburgh - I had to travel from Amsterdam to find it!

What a find - Gwenyth's expertise is brilliant! I discovered the Edinburgh Fabric Company shop when trying to locate a supplier James Hare silk to make a bolero to complement an expensive Mother of the Bride designer dress. I have never before been into a fabric shop where the fabrics had been so well chosen - tremendously tasteful, versatile and with such a gorgeous colour palate. Gwenyth's eye for colour is fantastic - she immediately guessed which colour silk was going to be best with the fabric of my dress and actually had the same designer fabric and some of the silk in the shop. Then she went through the pattern books knowing where to find the best patterns for me. Gwenyth then recommended a bespoke button covering service - her extensive experience and knowledge is second to none! The result was superb and totally individual. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I have always wanted to make my wedding dress as sewing has been a hobby of mine since I was 16. I went to Gwenyth's shop when it first opened, to buy fabric for my prom dress, and about 10 years later returned to buy bridal fabric. Gwenyth has been so helpful in suggesting fabrics which suited the pattern I chose and my budget. She had a great range to show me as she has a mix of stock items and swatches for order. She made all orders promptly and accurately and posted them to me when I needed extra items. I would highly recommend the personal and high quality service at The Dress Fabric Company.

The Edinburgh Fabric Company is the most glorious place. I didn't really know where to start with choosing the right fabrics for my dress but that wasn't a problem at all for Gwenyth who took me and my mum completely under her wing and talked us through various options. We left happily with several kinds of fabrics for all the different layers including the most intricate hand-made lace I've ever seen. Some of the fabrics had to be ordered in so she gave us samples of each to help colour-match everything else, which proved very helpful!

I can't recommend Gwenyth at the Dress Fabric Co in Edinburgh enough! I found her on line, while seeking a certain supplier of fabric for my wedding dress which my aunt was making for me. And I am so pleased that I did. My aunt and I are based in England but I got married in Scotland, and was keen to buy my fabrics locally. I had no real idea what I was doing, and Gwenyth completely took me under her wing; advising on shades of satin to suit my skin tone and style of lace to suit my stature. Gwenyth spent a lot of time, patiently draping me in layers of satin and lace to see the full effect, and made the whole experience a joy. She stocks high quality fabrics, which my aunt had advised were needed, and had knowledge of which fabrics would be easy or difficult to source. She happily gave me samples and organised for the final purchases to be sent direct to my aunt's house. Gwenyth even went on to recommend dress makers who could alter the bridesmaid dresses for my Scotland based bridesmaids. The service was so personal, it made the making of my dress a wonderful experience which could otherwise have been very daunting! While up for the wedding, my aunt even called in to meet Gwenyth, which brought all parties together and shows how much a part of "team wedding dress" Gwenyth had become. Thank you Gwenyth, you are a real star and provide a truly personal and incredible service.

We visited Edinburgh for a couple of days this year and wanted to get some ideas for my daughter's wedding next July. Found the dress fabric company through the internet and dropped by. Gwenyth couldn't have been more helpful, showing me samples of lace and silks which were out of the ordinary. She organised samples to be sent home for my daughter to look at. We were so pleased we arranged a family trip back to Edinburgh. My daughter's wedding is planned to be an open air festival type, and she wanted country style frocks for the bridesmaids. Gwenyth made some fantastic suggestions which opened our eyes to the possibilities fitted to my level of dressmaking skill. I would recommend The Dress Fabric Company to anyone looking for a stylish wedding that's unlike the run of the mill and makes bride and bridesmaids feel special.

My daughter was married at the Roman Camp in September. This was the wedding I had waited my whole life to make. Gwyneth, who owns the Dress Fabric Company, is an absolute treasure. My daughter designed her dress and we were able to find everything we wanted at this little gold mine in Edinburgh. Gwyneth has an extensive knowledge and stock only quality fabrics. The wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, my outfit and two of the guests outfits all came from this shop. I would highly recommend the personal service and attention to detail Gwyneth supplied. Thank you for making my daughter's day so special.
