Creative animal-themed blank canvas wedding at Comrie Croft, Crieff

SWD’s designer Lindsay has a flair for crafting, so it was only natural she’d spend the countdown to the big day drawing a screen full of animals for her creature-themed wedding.

Lindsay and Ryan said ‘I do’ at their beautiful blank canvas venue Comrie Croft, captured perfectly by Crieff Photography.

Here, Lindsay shares all from their wedding…

“When we first met, I was working in the pub Bunker in Glasgow and Ryan and his mates would come in.

One night we ended up at the same party where Ryan uttered the infamous words: “I really want to kiss you right now.”

It seemed to work!

I had my venue picked for quite a while as I had always wanted to get married near my parents’ home and the style of Comrie Croft related to the relaxed atmosphere I had envisioned.

We both love creatures, so obviously that sounds like a great theme that’s not going to make your wedding look like a kids’ party!

Joking aside, it worked out well. Ryan wanted us to ask everyone what their favourite animal was and said I could just draw it on the panelling behind where we were getting married.

I was cursing him in January as I spent every weekend at my parents’ house drawing!

Dress shopping was a nightmare! I ended up going to Flossy and Dossy who had made my friend’s wedding dress.

I wanted something slightly vintage looking but a little different.

I fell in love with a polka dot tulle and Wendy added lace to the sleeves and top.

I loved the planning part. Not only do I love crafting but I also love organising.

We spent 12 hours the day before the wedding decorating and setting up!

Our vows and service were really personal to us.

We had written 10 things we love about each other and the humanist read it out, giving everyone a laugh.

Ryan’s friend Jamie made a compilation of Robbie Williams lyrics into a poem.

It was hilarious watching people slowly recognise the lyrics and realise what was going on.

After the meal everyone gathered round for the traditional wedding piñata, or so it is becoming in our group of friends!

Our best friends made a monstrous-sized penguin piñata which was a highlight of the day.

For the evening food I created a donut wall, much to my dad’s dismay.

When else can you order that many donuts from Krispy Kreme and ask them to colour them to your wedding colours?!
