I hadn’t even considered the Hotel Colessio, but we went up for a drink one night and asked to see the ballroom.
I instantly fell in love; it was so bright and airy, with the massive window framed by neutral curtains, which looked really elegant.
I tried to go with a palette rather than a colour so I chose champagne, light blush pink and the boys in navy.
We were actually married by Davids dad, which was so personal and a lovely way of bringing two families together.
We both planned the exact same surprise present for each other and splashed on Tag Heuer watches.
We tried to think of things that meant something to us – we had Tunnock’s teacakes with a sandwich flag for name places as David is from Uddingston and all our tables were named after Still Game characters.
I tried to think of little details that people would appreciate and I even picked a cocktail out for each member of the top table, as well as a Pimp my Prosecco stand – that went down really well!
I love designing and picking out details. We saved up early and started to pay everything off so planning wasn’t that stressful.
We went on honeymoon to the Maldives on the Monday after the wedding and I’m glad we went away so early it gave us time to be together, away from everyone else and the attention to just enjoy being together.
Being married makes no difference to our relationship, if anything it even made us closer.
