The Eternity Group join us on the catwalk for SWD’s Exclusive Fashion Show
Join us in the gorgeous new Counting House space in our beautiful headquarters in Dundee on Thursday 27th July for a one-of-a-kind fashion catwalk show, bringing the most gorgeous dresses for brides, bridesmaids and mums, plus stylish groomswear, directly from the designers.
This is the brand you want to check out if you’re a fan of bold and modern gowns.
With features like the combination of mikado and crepe fabrics with delicate vintage lace detailing, and glamorous Hollywood influences, you’ll definitely wow your guests with a gown from this collection.
You can now buy Pronovias dresses online – and the sales are on!
We’re huge fans of Barcelona bridalwear designer Pronovias at Scottish Wedding Directory. Not only is this a go-to label for stylish brides, but the designer also has a stunning range of occasionwear that’s attracted many a celeb fan over the years, from Pippa Middleton to Irina Shayk (I even spotted Kate Upton on the frow at one of their recent shows!).
So you can imagine how excited we were to find out that 1) you can now finally buy Pronovias’ cocktail dresses online at its new online shop and 2) there’s a sale on right now!
The dresses and jumpsuits are perfect wedding guest attire (mothers of the bride and mothers of the groom struggling to find a stylish outfit should definitely look here) and there are also some beautiful options for brides-to-be who don’t want to take the traditional white dress route.
An alternative jumpsuit comes in the form of pretty-in-pink ‘Brenda’. Perfect for pastel lovers, this is ideal for those of you looking for an outfit with long sleeves. The wide-legged trousers are really on-trend too.
One of her gowns (she wore three) was designed by Michael Cinco, and embellished with 500,000 of her family’s namesake crystals It weighed 46kg, had an eight-metre train and was worth more than $1,000,000!
After the ceremony, the newlyweds joined guests in Portopiccolo near Trieste at Maxi’s Restaurant, where they dined alfresco around beautiful tables decorated with herb trees and thousands of Swarovski crystals.
London is awesome. There’s so much to do, and loads to see, and every time I have to go to London for SWD, it’s a real whirlwind that leaves me exhausted, but full of renewed passion for the wedding industry!
We’re very lucky that we get to go and see first hand some of the world’s most gorgeous gowns and accessories, all under one roof at Battersea Evolution in a four day event. From catwalks to private fashion previews, to chatting to some lovely designers off-site, we had a great time picking out our favourite finds to share with you.
If you’re looking for proper gorgeous and unique bridal or bridesmaid accessories, then I would recommend Hermione Harbutt. We visited her cute-as-a-button boutique in Kensington to preview the new collection, and see the collaborative work she’s doing with Harriet Wilde.
Natasha and I even got to try on some amazing bridal crowns – we’ll take one each please! One of my other favourite pieces from Hermione’s new collection was the bead and wire ring you can see above. It was so unusual, and would look amazing in photos.
We hot-footed it in the rain to see Ian Stuart’s new collection reveal too, and it was so worth it. Stunning gowns with the Ian Stuart signature style stamped all over them, presented in his usual ethereal, romantic way; simply stunning!
Enough from me, just check out these pics we captured, or check out the #whitegallery or #WGL17 hashtags on Instagram and Twitter.

Editor’s report: Five hot wedding dress trends for 2018 from Barcelona Bridal Week
The new bridal fashion season is well and truly underway, and with a new season comes quite literally thousands of amazing new wedding dresses to covet.
So what can you expect from the 2018 collections? I went to Barcelona Bridal Week and braved the pouring rain “ yep, RAIN “ to uncover the next biggest wedding dress trends. Here are five of my faves.
It’s no joke that I’ve been waiting for sleeves to become fashionable purely for the joy of writing the above pun, but that’s not where the benefits of this trend end.
For those of you who love the elegance of a sleeved dress, prepare to be spoiled for choice whether you’re after chic capped sleeves or flowing fluted ones that make you feel ever so slightly like Dumbledore (but, y’know, in an ethereal bride kinda way).
We’ve all been getting our shoulders out for the past couple of years since cold shoulder tops and bardot dresses flooded the high street, and if it’s a style you can’t get enough of you’ll be pleased to know it’s big news in bridalwear now too. Behold: the cold shoulder wedding dress.
I admit it. I’m obsessed with bridal capes. I love that they give you all the drama of a veil but in a much more contemporary way, and frankly, I love the way it feels to walk incredibly fast while wearing a cape and having it flow behind you like a superhero. That’s how you want to feel on your wedding day, right?
You’re a busy and important grown-up sophisticated lady with lipstick and a phone and a fancy powder compact, and on a day where you can’t lug all your essentials around in your usual receipt-littered bag, you need pockets dammit.
Fortunately many bridal designers have cottoned on to this and wedding dresses with pockets featured in a number of collections this year.

LITTLE BRIDE ON THE PRAIRIE
If you’re envisaging yourself floating down the aisle with loosely braided hair and clutching a bouquet of wildflowers (locally grown, natch), you’ll love the boho vibes of many of the 2018 wedding dress collections. Designers to pay close attention to are YolanCris, Marylise and Rembo Styling, and Jesus Peiro.
The new spring/summer collection from bridal design giant Berta is another knockout; the main inspiration for it came from the materials themselves, with shimmering and embellished gowns epitomising edge and glamour.
There’s one common thread that runs through every Berta collection, and that’s uniqueness. A bride that chooses Berta knows that she’ll be different and stand out, leaving a lasting impression.

Bridal trends for 2018 at London’s White Gallery
It’s a highlight in Team SWD’s calendar, and the Next Big Thing after the whirlwind of Barcelona Bridal Week; bridalwear designers from all over the world will be at London’s Battersea Evolution on Sunday 14th, Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th May to showcase their 2018 collections at White Gallery London.
As an official media partner, we can’t wait to get in and about all these gorgeous gowns and accessories!
Buyers and press come to the show to see what’s going to be on-trend for 2018, from the biggest names in bridal to new and emerging talent. More than 70 high-end designers will be there, with jaw-dropping catwalk shows a real highlight of the three-day event.
So what can you expect to see on our Instagram Stories? Here’s what’s predicted for 2018¦
TREND #1: LONG SLEEVES
We’ve been hanging onto this trend since that princess gown in 2011, and it seems that brides aren’t letting go of long sleeved gowns quite yet.
For 2018 though, we’ll see a little more interest on those sleeves: feminine shapes, bell cuffs and three-quarter cuts are key.
Yep, the cold shoulder trend is literally everywhere, and bridal fashion has picked it up too with designers such as Balmain pushing bridal designers in the right direction, with lowered necklines that expose those shoulders.
We love a cape at SWD, so to our delight, they’re a big hit in 2018, along with other décolletage embellishments: lace additions, feathers and high neck gowns are on the up.
Mini-capes get a huge thumbs up from us, especially this one from Alan Hannah. Too gorgeous!
We can’t wait to get to White Gallery London!
Make sure you follow SWD’s Steph and Natasha in London on Instagram and Twitter from Saturday 13th ˜til Monday 15th May.
Nicole 2018 Collection: The NeverEnding Story
SWD’s fashion co-ordinator Beth jetted off to Rome in March; she had an invite to one of the most exclusive shows in the bridal calendar so far this year, Nicole’s 2018 collection.
Read all about her trip and find out where you can try on a Nicole gown in Scotland…
The atmosphere was electric; glittering lights lead along a red carpet entrance to the foyer of Palazzo Dei Congressi, where attendees were snapped as if they were celebrities (some of them were!) and the bubbles flowed freely. As I’d come to expect of Rome, the people attending the event were dressed up in fabulous evening wear that wouldn’t look out of place at the Oscars. The night really did feel like a very special occasion indeed.
Nicole is a brand that’s well known for elegant, graceful styles which feature luxurious fabrics and intricate detailing. This runway event showcased exactly that; gorgeous dresses beautifully made, but with a new, fresh look for 2018.
My standout favourite was a beautiful gown with flowing skirt and cropped bolero jacket (pictured above right), as being a little older myself I can see this on a bride who wants to be seriously stylish but cover up when she wants to as well. There was also a very on-trend cape detail dress with glamorous thigh-high split (pictured above, right). I just loved that! It moved so effortlessly but held a real sense of drama.
The whole feel of the collection is complete and utter romance, from soft flowing tulles to the delicate floral embroidered and lace appliques.
For me, when I am planning a photoshoot for Scottish Wedding Directory, I need the gowns to translate well from the models on the catwalk to our real Scottish brides who buy the magazine, hoping to find The One. This collection certainly fitted the bill!
