Get active

Introducing sporting events to your hen do weekend could have some of your girls reaching for their best ˜I’m washing my hair that weekend’ excuses, but even the most exercise-shy hen would have fun at Blown Away Experiences.

Their special Blown Away Beach Bride Olympics allow hen parties to play games on the beach while having a special pop-up area with gorgeous views, cupcakes and mocktails for refreshments.

You can also couple this package with an adventure experience such as land yachting, paddle boarding, or beach kayaking for a special price of £55 per head “ may the best hen win!

Solve a mystery

If you want to embrace your inner Sherlock, it’s time to get your murder mystery on.

Blue Murder Events has a variety of scenarios to choose from, from the spooky supernatural to a glam footballers’ wives affair.

Murder Mystery games are great for bringing everyone together – your work pals and your school friends will be chatting away before you know it while trying to crack the case.

Alternatively, Blue Murder Events is set to launch escape rooms in 2018, because remember – the hen party that solves mysteries together, stays together!

Become a florist

Fancy the idea of arranging your own wedding flowers? Editor Natasha and lead designer Laura went along to a full-day wedding flower workshop at the Narcissus Flowers and Plants Flower School in Edinburgh  and had the best day learning how to make a bouquet, centrepiece, butthonhole and cake décor.

Not only do you pick up some serious skills but you get to take away your creations at the end of the day, and lunch is provided too.

At £175pp it might not be within everyone’s budget, but if you like the sound of it we reckon it’d make an ideal pre-wedding activity with your mum.

Have a house party

If your idea of a perfect hen do is just a chill weekend away surrounded by your favourite people, hiring out the gorgeous Ballogie House for you and your hens might be the option for you.

The newly refurbished Aberdeenshire mansion is absolutely beautiful, kitted out in contemporary furnishings from top to bottom.

It can sleep up to 14 guests and has a stunning fully equipped kitchen and dining room for a self-catered hen do feast, but if that’s not your thing, there’s a selection of great restaurants nearby that are only a short drive away.

It even has a games room and a hot tub for after-dinner fun! Hire it for the full weekend for £2,500.

Be a modern-day Pocahontas

We love the premium wigwams at Loch Tay Highland Lodges, which take camping in style to whole new level.

The premium wigwams (from £40pp/night) can sleep up to four people, and while you bring your own crockery, cutlery and sleeping bag, amenities such as a kettle, fridge and toaster are all available for your stay.

Plump for one of the premium wigwams with a hot tub and you’ll have use of an eco-friendly wood-fired hot tub which is chemical free and filled with fresh water from the nearby spring every morning.

Great for a no-fuss weekend away with your closest pals!

Do some DIY

Being able to create something from scratch is a hugely rewarding experience, so give your hens that gift and book them in for a craft class.

MADE Craft Parties offer hens the chance to create a variety of beautiful things from fascinators, to bunting and even luxury lingerie!

Parties last three hours and if you can’t make it into a class, you can buy DIY kits that allow you to recreate the experience on a budget at home.
