Accessories Through the Ages: Solen Photography

Solen Collet, owner and photographer at Solen Photography, was inspired to shoot bridal hair accessories a little differently after wandering around The Wedding Collective’s bridal market and seeing lots of gorgeous things that she knew would look great on camera.

The idea came together with the help of MUA Cori Burnet; Solen and Cori spent time pouring over photography in Love Magazine, and noticed an older issue feaured some beautiful shots by fashion photographers Mert and Marcus. Their photography was our inspiration for the shoot, says Solen, “and we started collecting ideas on Pinterest boards. We had the idea of representing each decade from the 1920s to the present day, and it seemed like a good way to make a series of headshots with different looks.

With their idea in mind, Solen and Cori contacted some of their favourite The Wedding Collective suppliers plus others who were only too happy to help, and got to work on styling the looks, which were shot over two days.
“It’s so important to keep learning and experimenting, so that you can offer something creative and of quality to new clients, explains Solen. “I love photographing weddings; what’s not to love about being part of the happiest day of someone’s life!”
