Don’t forget, when the wedding planning gets tough, we’ll be there for you…
Here’s the 16 stages of wedding planning, as told entirely by Friends GIFs.
It’s happened! They popped the question, you’re getting married and you want the world to know!
2. Sharing the news with your besties
“I’ve got something to tell you, guys…” you excitedly type into the WhatsApp group chat. You can almost hear your bestie’s celebration screams as you send the image of your hand, complete with new bling.
3. The realisation hitting
You have a real life, grown up wedding to plan. Do not panic. Do not panic…
4. Money on your mind
Along with the real life, grown up wedding plans is the very real, grown up matter of budget. Sorry everything/everyone else in the world, money is legit the only thing on your mind right now *Googles the odds of winning the lottery*.
5. Sample shopping gets serious
You will get that dream dress at a fraction of the cost, even if it kills you. Hands off everyone else, that gown is yours.
6. Guest list woes
You spend endless hours of your life trying to accommodate everyone your mum/mum-in-law/granny insists has to be invited, even though you don’t even remember who second cousin Dave and doubt you will ever see him again apart from this one occasion.
7. Wedding details have turned into a full time job
All those hours choosing the exact shade of ivory for your wedding invitations has paid off – just look at your finished masterpiece, all perfect as it arrives in the post for you to take a first look at. You’re so proud of you.
8. Your make-up trial goes differently than planned
Uhm, this wasn’t quite the look you were going for when you said ‘a nice natural glow’.
9. Trying so hard to write your own romantic vows
You were in awe of your old school friend’s nuptials when she and her husband exchanged their heartfelt, personally written vows, but the words just aren’t coming to you quite as easily. Send help/poetry books, please.
10. Hearing ‘how are the wedding plans going?’ approx. 50 million times per day
Yes, you know they’re just trying to be nice and show interest in your big day, but quite truthfully you have planning panic atm and would like to not be reminded of how much you’ve actually still got to do.
11. Thinking it would be a great idea to have both you and your spouse-to-be’s families over for drinks and nibbles
It’s the perfect chance for everyone to really get to know each other before the big day. Quickly realising this was a mistake and pouring yet another drink to help yourself cope.
12. At least there’s cake
No matter what, you’re holding on to the sweet, sweet perk of wedding cake tasting. It’s totally okay to go for multiple cake tasting sessions, yes?
13. Your guests taking too long to RSVP with their menu choices
Seriously, all you need to do is tick that little box to let us know which of the meals you would like us to pay for you to enjoy. You have an overwhelming urge just to scrap the plan and order everyone the same thing.
14. Being unable to say ‘no’ (even if you really want to)
So. Many. Opinions. You don’t want to offend anyone so seem to be agreeing to everything your mum/bridesmaid/workmate/pet dog insists you should do for your wedding day. You’re not entirely sure what the theme is anymore, but you’re just going with it.
15. When your ‘laid-back, relaxed vibes’ wedding takes a turn
You’re not entirely sure how you got to this rather elaborate big day, but you’re in too deep now.
16. Happily ever after
But it’s okay, because it all works out well in the end and you get to marry your best friend. All those stress-filled days were worth it as you start the next chapter of your lives together. All together now, awwwww.
