GET TO KNOW a couple of this year's award-winning photographers

If you've looked through the photography section of The SWD lately you will probably have noticed lots of adverts boasting the impressive phrase, 'Award-winning photography by...' Perhaps you are hoping to bad yourself an award-winning wedding photographer? A good place to start is having a look at the images below, which were merited with a coveted Scottish MPA (Master Photographers Association) Award in the 2008 wedding categories. You can also see the winner of the BIPP's (British Institute of Professional Photography) award-winning image in the wedding category.

Every year, photographers have the opportunity to submit their images to the prestigious MPA and BIPPScotland bodies. Their work is then judged by some of the most experienced photographers in the business, and those deemed the best receive highly sought-after awards for their efforts. Like many top photographers, David Bryce never intended to make a career out of his hobby. He started taking photos as a 14-year-old, and soon had a darkroom in his teenage bedroom. BIPP AWARD WINNER EWAN BARRY

The BIPP winner in the wedding category this year was Edinburgh based photographer Ewan Barry, of Images of Morningside.
