You can't beat a good proposal story. Of course, all proposals are special - but we always sigh just a little bit longer when we hear about someone who's really gone all out to get a 'yes' from the one they love. And it's not only the big, grand gestures that have an impact; the thoughtful, creative ones are just as romantic (often more!). Like the groom-to-be who made a really sweet flipbook to ask for his girlfriend Mary's hand in marriage.'He proposed on Brighton Beach on the 15th November having gone in for a swim !!! He came out of the water, dropped on his knees or so I thought. I thought he was dying as he couldnt catch his breath but what I didnt see was he was only down on one knee. I ran around the beach and screamed at the top of my voice.'

One of the best things about working at SWD is getting to hear the different proposal stories of all the Scottish couples we chat to. From men whisking their girlfriends off to amazing cities like New York, Paris or Barcelona to pop the question, to dropping down on one knee while visiting a beautiful castle or asking the big question in a hotel room filled with rose petals and inviting friends and family over for a post-proposal party in the restaurant downstairs....You lot have certainly snared a romantic bunch!
'I'm Jen, the dude is Neil and he went down on one knee last weekend at the club night we met at 2 years previously. It had a 'wedding theme' (nothing to do with us!) and Neil contacted the band 3 weeks before and arranged for them to play 'our' song Madness, It Must Be Love and halfway through he proposed.
