Picture perfect wedding photography albums

Choosing a weddinElemental Weddingsg photographer from the stack of talent we're fortunate to have in Scotland is a tricky business. So that's why we've compiled a foolproof guide as to what you should look out for when viewing all those sample wedding photography albums.

One... What's in the background?
Nothing that's in the background of a wedding photograph should distract you from the main focus of the image – most likely you and your groom. So look out for unnecessary additions like telegraph poles or ugly backdrops. If the photographer hasn't used Photoshop to remove these then it might be worth asking why.

Two... What do the people look like?
Have a look at the way people are posing in the photographs. Is their posture right? Is everyone looking their best? Can you see two legs – or is one hidden behind the other? You should be looking to see if the photographer has managed to position the couple so that you can see the cut of the kilt/suit as well as the line of the dress. And while you're there look at the detail on the dress – is it visible? The little things will matter when it's your wedding photos so it pays to take your time and look over the images carefully.

Three... What do their faces say?
How do the bride and groom's faces look in the photographs? Do they look comfortable and relaxed? Do their skin tones look natural? And are their expressions genuine? Building a rapport with your photographer ahead of time is a great way to get more natural photographs, so as well as checking out their images make sure to see how you all get along at your meeting too. If you click and your like his/her pics then you're probably on to a winner!
