Bridesmaid Duties

bridesmaids dress shops scotlandIt's a double-edged sword when you're asked to be a bridesmaid. On one hand it's an honour and a privilege to be a part of a wedding. On the other, there's a certain level of commitment required, and it's a role that comes with bridesmaid duties and responsibilities. So how do you make sure your bridesmaids have a fun and enjoyable experience too?

1. The dress

The decision about what the attendants should wear can be a bit stressful. It's difficult to please everybody and stick to your budget at the same time! Your friends are probably a varied bunch in terms of height, build, skin tone and taste! It might be worthwhile having a night in to discuss ideas, colours and dress shapes before hitting the shops.

2. Shopping

The shopping experience can be tricky to organise too, particularly if your bridesmaids live in different parts of the country or even different countries! it might be impossible to have everyone together at the same time to look at dresses. So why not online shop instead? No aching feet and the chance for you and the girls to share their ideas over email instead! Or get the girls to choose dresses in the same shade or complementary shades but in different styles if that would work.

3. Presents

Don't forget to factor in presents for your bridesmaids. These days it's often the case that the bridesmaids' jewellery can double up as their present. It also makes a great photo opportunity if you have personalised robes made for when you're all getting ready in the morning. And don't forget that your bridesmaids are sure to love a photo of you and them from the day too!
