Exercise for couples

exercise for couplesCouple exercise 1: Get on your bike!

If you share the same route to work then why not ditch the car and cycle together? You’ll get fitter, tone up your legs and save money on petrol. Or you could attend a spin class together instead and burn up to 1000kcals an hour. This class is based on working with your own level of resistance and fitness, which means you’ll be in the same class but can be working at different levels if needs be.

Couple exercise 2: Game play

Wedding planning will be the last thing on your mind when you’re breaking a sweat knocking a badminton shuttlecock or tennis ball around the court. Head along with your beloved or get another couple involved too in order to make things a little more interesting. You could play a doubles match against each other or have a boys versus girls contest.

Couple exercise 3: Hit the track

Running is one of the easiest ways to get fit. All you really need is a decent pair of trainers, a good sports bra (ladies only of course) and the willpower to drag yourself out of the house. It’s definitely more fun when you do it in pairs and you’re less likely to quit if there’s someone beside you.

Couple exercise 4: Let’s dance

Are you and your hubby-to-be looking to lose a bit of weight for the big day, and brush up your dancing skills? Well kill two birds with one stone by booking some dance lessons in preparation for your first waltz. This definitely is one of the most fun exercises for couples. A general ballroom and Latin class will give you an idea of where your strengths (and weaknesses) lie but don't despair if you're not very good – the more classes you do, the more calories you'll burn.

Couple exercise 5: Walk this way

You don’t have to look far to find a good walking route in Scotland. This could involve anything from walking home from work to bagging a munro. The health benefits of walking are vast and walking just one mile can burn up to around 100kcals. It’s proven to be good for your mental health too. Walking is a great way to improve self-esteem and boost your mood, and it’s one exercise you can do whilst talking at the same time!
