After the wedding

after the weddingHalf the fun of planning a wedding comes from looking forward to it. But as the sense of anticipation builds, try to think beyond the wedding day to when it's all done and dusted. Here are a few practical measures to help you get back to reality after the honeymoon's over...

Organise a guest book

Ask someone to be responsible for distributing this around your guests on the day, then you can sit back and enjoy all the lovely messages from friends and family upon your return from honeymoon.

Book a videographer

If you pay for a record of your day then every time you get a pang of post-wedding blues, simply press play and travel back in time.

Become an expert

You've probably become a real fountain of knowledge when it comes to wedding planning, so don't let that go to waste. Instead why not visit our scottish wedding forum and help other brides-to-be who are planning a wedding in Scotland and don't know where to start? You could publish your wedding story there too!

Stay busy

There are a few post-wedding jobs to do to keep you busy. For example, have you considered updating your home contents insurance in line with any new jewellery and gifts? Have you chosen your images and had your photo album signed off? And, of course, now's the perfect time to start writing your thank you notes, to have your dress dry cleaned and to change your name with all the official bodies that require it.

Give thanks

After your wedding, you'll get to enjoy the lovely gifts that you've received  – bonus – and probably some gift vouchers/cash to spend too. But don't forget about the people you need to thank. A shopping trip to buy gifts for the VIPs who made your day that little bit more special should cheer you up and spread the feel-good factor. It could be as simple as buying photo frames and distributing wedding pictures.

Get celebrating!

If you're not going on honeymoon straight away then make sure you're booked into somewhere fabulous for your first night  or plan a special night for your one-month anniversary!
