"I wish
I could take the credit for the 'two dress' idea", says Jenna Hunter, "but it wasn't mine". The designer of the dresses, Jonathan James [of Jonathan James Couture] is a family friend and it was on his suggestion that the bride-to-be think a little outside the box! "Once my Dad heard, he was so excited that we would have something different at our wedding.""My dresses were exactly the same except that the day dress was ivory and the evening dress was black," explains Jenna who married Scott at the Dunmar House Hotel, Alloa in June 2009. "I was so set on having a very plain wedding dress but as soon as I tried my dress on, I knew it was the one. I loved the ruffles and it just made me feel so amazing. I think the gems on the bust area gave it a nice sparkle. Also the black dress went well with the black bridesmaid dresses, which were from Jonathan James Couture's Deva range."
She goes on: "I got changed after my first dance so that all the daytime and evening guests saw both dresses; everyone thought that it was amazing and had never seen it done before. The all commented on the fact that even though the dresses were exactly the same they looked totally different; some people hadn't noticed the sparkle on the ivory dress, which stood out on the black."
Jenna and Scott's parents were the only people who knew about the surprise extra dress but Jenna says she found it very difficult to keep it a secret – "I wanted everyone to know," she adds.
It's something she'd definitely recommend other brides to do too. "Although you feel like a princess on your wedding day, having that special second dress makes you feel fantastic – I am so glad I had two dresses!"
