boudoir photography

Presenting your hubby-to-be with the results of a boudoir photography session on your wedding day is certainly one way of putting a spring in his step as he walks down the aisle! This slightly risqué present is becoming increasingly popular with brides-to-be, especially those who've been working hard to look their best on their wedding day.

What happens?

The shoots usually take place at a studio and are usually conducted by a female photographer. It's helpful to meet with the photographer prior to the shoot day so that you can discuss what they offer, how they work and their style of photography.

How to choose

When deciding which company to hire for your shoot, one of the most important things to consider is what you're looking for from the experience. Do you want to do it simply for a bit of fun (perhaps with your fellow hens) , to show off your fantastic new figure or just to have a sexy makeover? The type of shoot you're after may have some bearing on the company you decide to use, as will the packages on offer.

Get personal

It's always good to see examples of any photographer's work before booking them. With boudoir photography, you may also wish to read testimonials from previous clients. And a visit to the studio ahead of time gives you the chance to imagine what the experience will be like on the day.

In the frame

While it's important to check out the photographers' finished shots, it's also worthwhile asking to have a look at some 'before' and 'after' pics. With this type of photo shoot, many of your normally hidden lumps and bumps will be on show, so it pays to check out the quality of the photographer's Photoshop skills too!

Price promise

The money you're willing to spend on a boudoir shoot will again be dependent on what you intend to do with the finished result. You may like to display your picture in the bedroom, en-suite bathroom or even the living room, if you're really brave. Alternatively, an increasingly popular trend is to have your photographs displayed in a stylish coffee table-type book. But if you're only planning to slip a little photograph into your beloved's wedding day card then it's important to make the photographer aware of this.

Package deal

When looking at the pricing structure of the various packages out there, ask how much is being charged for the shoot itself and whether any glossy prints are thrown in. You'll also want to know if it's possible to purchase digital copies of the images (useful if you're planning on creating your own album or photo montage) and how much additional prints would cost at a later stage.
