Show me love baby?
Luckily, when you get married the photographer doesn't just set up his equipment and then say, 'OK baby, show me love!'. They understand that you're a normal person who's not used to being in the spotlight, rather than a model who turns on the smiles at the click of a button. They will, however, use every tool in his camera bag to make you feel good. A good wedding photographer will be able to do their job in a serious way while behaving lightheartedly to make it all seem rather good fun, as opposed to a chore to be endured. And they do all this to ensure people are at ease and relaxed, because they know that's when they'll get the best out of them.
Looking good
Even if you're totally convinced that you're the most unphotogenic person in the whole wide angled world, we can guarantee that your photographer will make you look fab. If you're still not brimming with joy at the thought of having your pics taken on the day, why not ask your photographer about the possibility of a pre-wedding shoot? Many offer this service now, as it helps everyone get to know each other, and it means you'll know what to expect on the day. Once you see the results of a camera whose owner knows what they're doing, any doubts will be washed away as instantly as a Polaroid.
Take the time
As much fun as your wedding will be, it can also be overwhelming at times - be prepared for everyone wanting a piece of you, albeit in a nice way. Snatching a quiet moment with just the two of you, OK, the three of you, can be just what the wedding doctor ordered. Also, remember that you don't have to go far to get some peace and quiet; whatever the venue's like there's bound to be a photo-friendly backdrop within a few minutes' walk. What's more, your photographer will no doubt have spotted it. And what's half an hour or so compared to the length of time you'll be enjoying the photos for?
It's good to share
If you're still not feeling the photo love, talk to your photographer. Be honest, tell them what you're worried about, and if you've made a good choice he/she will reassure you. When you think about it, there's no better time to get your photo taken; you've had your hair and make-up done, you're wearing a gorgeous dress, you're looking your best, you're having a fabulous time with everyone you love around you. We can't claim to know the inner thoughts of all Scotland's brides, but we've certainly spoken to a lot of couples, and although many feel apprehensive beforehand, more often than not it turns out to be one of their favourite parts of the day. And if you don't believe us, just read what our Real Life brides had to say!
These following comments are quotes from real brides and are typical of the kind of remarks made about wedding photography after the event
"The photographers made us feel very relaxed, from first thing in the morning to the last photos of the evening, which you can tell from the natural shots they got. I still can't believe that the photos are of us... obviously he can make anyone look good!"
"It was terrifying because we hadn't met them, but we liaised
with them before the wedding to ensure the shoot met our needs. He made
sure he covered every angle of the wedding, fitted in with the guests
and was really nice to have around."
"We had so much fun. I felt totally at ease and our photos captured all the happy moments."
"We
were a bit worried, as we didn't actually meet the photographer until
quite close to the wedding, but we just clicked, he understood exactly
what we wanted."
"The photographer was so unobtrusive the guests didn't even notice him!"
"We
didn't think we'd enjoy it, but it was great. The photographer made it
relaxing and fun and it didn't feel as though the photos were dragging
on for ages!"
"It surprised us how much we enjoyed it;
I'd had visions of us standing grinning for ages. Having pictures taken
wasn't a chore at all."
"We were both amazed by how good the pictures were, he did a fantastic job."
"I
loved it. We were really pleased when we got the photos back, we
couldn't believe it. We'd had a practice at the studio beforehand so
that helped us relax on the day, we knew what was expected. Looking
back at the photos they are just so natural."
"Our photographer
was superb, very funny and good at putting us at ease. We were
delighted with our photos, we really can't praise him enough."
"The photographer was very entertaining, I questioned the setting of some shots but was beyond delighted when I saw the results"
