There are many photography styles, from formal to reportage, but remember it's not simply about one picture, rather a whole album. Some photographers will send brochures or direct you to their websites, and that way you can narrow your choice to two or three. Start by looking at their adverts to identify the individual styles of different photographers.

Meeting

Weekends are a photographer's busiest time, so if you can arrange a visit to their studio mid-week to see their portfolio. Your photographer will be directing you and your guests at the wedding so if you do not like their personality, don't book them. If you don't have a good rapport, it will show in your wedding photographs. Some photography companies have several photographers, therefore it's best to establish who will be taking the pictures on the day and ask if you can meet them. Determine what packages they offer; the most basic start at around 30 photographs. Photographers have a wealth of experience and usually a vast knowledge of venues and nearby scenic locations, so keep in close contact with them for inspiration.
