Dj recommendations Renfrewshire

Hi folks,

Im looking for Dj recommendations please - for renfrewshire -

*not too expensive
*willing to play quite alot of motown / 50s & 60's music as well as modern stuff
* not cheesy - i really dont like cheesy Djs that talk in between every song and feel they have to give a commentry!!

hope im not too fussy! any help appreciated!!

Hi, I'd recommend 1st dance weddings (I'm sure that's the name). My friends used them and the guy was really nice and took a playlist etc. I think he's from Linwood.

We've booked Lenny Love (who was one of the DJs at Vegas retro/swing/burlesque club) and I know that Graham (Lord Holyrude/Sam Jose) is also bookable for weddings and events. Lenny's an old friend of my dad's as well as a VERY experienced DJ so I'm really looking forward to his sets!

Whilst I don't dispute that, it's a lot easier to have a DJ specialising in retro music (who will likely know of some fantastic selections which you wouldn't know yourself) if that's what you want than having to spell out in explicit detail which songs you want all night to someone who specialises in drum'n'bass or hardcore trance.

Can't recommend this guy enough - Mark from Premier DJ Scotland! He loves his soul/motown/funk tunes and is based in Glasgow.

I get where your coming from.....we really want someone who knows their stuff when it comes to Indie music.....classics from the past few decades etc, not someone who will instantly think 'Kings of Leon - Sex on fire (which we hate)'. Finding it pretty difficult to get someone though. We were planning to ask Dj's from a night in Glasgow that's been running for 8 years and now the bloody thing is shutting down!

So if anyone knows someone who knows their Indie/Rock music and has their own set up.....give me a shout

Even if the night is shutting down, the DJs may well still be around.

I have to confess that, every time "Sex on Fire" comes on, G and I giggle and one of us makes a comment along the lines of "You ought to get down to the GUM clinic for that."

Emailed their address and asked them twice on Twitter. I know they are usually really active on there, so they obviously just dont want to do it. Kind of feel like I was beginning to seem like a bit of a pain in the ass!

Are there any major indie nights in Edinburgh that your aware off? I could do a bit of stalking there!

Yes, Chris Mathews for 1st Dance is a very good DJ. He specialises in wedding entertainment, does uplighting, starcloths etc.. and he is in your area... I'd second that tip to contact him..

Not too sure about DJs that specialise in Indie tracks...?? Best of luck in finding one..

The guys I were after have been in touch and have said they would love to do it.....just waiting on a quote from them.

If it all falls through, I reckon I'd go for 1st dance.
