Business Users & Advertising Policy

Unlike other bridal forums, we have decided to allow advertisers and wedding suppliers the facility to set up a profile and become members. However, we ask that you bear the following rules in mind when posting on the forum.

A forum for brides
Please note that the forum is designed primarily for brides. If it is overrun with business users this defeats the purpose of giving Scottish brides their own online community. If the forum becomes dominated by company opinions it would start to exclude those the community was created for. For this reason, any members belonging to the Suppliers group will be allowed to post but won't be able to start new topics. We also respectfully ask that you keep your posts to Ask the Exeprt and the Business Users Forum. There is a limit of no more than 10posts/month in all other forums as these are predominantly for brides.

Advertising
The forums are not a place to advertise your business and posts plugging wedding services may be removed without notice.

Ask the expert
We appreciate that those in the industry are knowledgeable and have helpful tips and advice for brides. Therefore we have started an 'Ask the expert' forum where brides can communicate directly with suppliers to ask for advice and information. It allows us to avoid excluding people and means brides have the opportunity to seek professional opinions. Suppliers/advertisers should minimise posts within the rest of the forums to no more than 10posts/month.

Right to reply
In the unlikely event that brides make negative comments about your business on the forums, we can offer you a 'Right to Reply' facility. This means that you would be able to respond to posts where you feel your business has been misrepresented, to tell your side of the story, or where you would like to publicly make amends for any wrongdoings. Although we do not permit advertising on the forum itself, this facility is also an opportunity for you to promote your business in a positive light.

Signatures
If you include company details in your signature, it must contain only your company name and website address. No banner ads, logos, slogans, taglines or extra details will be permitted.

Suppliers / recent brides
If there is a crossover between your status on the board, eg you are a wedding supplier and also a bride to be/recently married bride, we would advise creating two profiles. Use a personal profile to give advice/feedback/help/chat about your wedding and use your Supplier profile for areas where you are giving Supplier advice as Suppliers are restricted to only 10posts/month outwith the Ask the Expert and Business Users Forum.

User names
Please note that any wedding suppliers must identify themselves as such when signing up to the forums. You must include your business name as part of your User Name. Any supplier not doing so may be suspended or banned from the forums. Our aim is to have clear boundaries between brides and advertisers.

If you have any questions about any of these points, please feel free to get in touch with the editor Ros Nash on 0141 445 5545 / ros@scottishweddingdirectory.co.uk

Q What happens when a negative comment is posted about a wedding company?
Although the SWD’s aim is for this board to be filled with happy positive comments from brides and brides to be, every now and then it is inevitable that a negative comment is posted relating to a specific company. The SWD’s policy on this can be summarised as follows: * This is a public forum and we cannot be held responsible for comments posted by our members. * If you find a negative comment written about your company, we suggest you use the opportunity to a Right to Reply. This means you can respond to a post and use it as an opportunity to explain/promote your business decisions. Indeed many suppliers find this a great way to get feedback on their service offered and there are many examples of suppliers turning negatives into positives using the Right to Reply. * If you consider that the offending comment(s) has been made with prejudice or ill-intent, please email the Moderators immediately, who will advise you accordingly on the best course of action. * Companies please note that when it comes to requests to take specific posts down, the SWD reserves the right to look at each case on its individual merits. Please note we are not a governing body and cannot get involved with seeking justice for individual cases if there is an ongoing dispute. The SWD will take posts down posts that could cause harm to a company’s reputation, regardless of whether that company is an advertiser of not. * Brides please note that this forum was created for Scottish brides to communicate with other Scottish brides-to-be and share thoughts, tips and experiences. The forum should not be used as a place to bad-mouth Scottish businesses, rather one to share positive experiences. If you do post negative comments, please note that the Moderator may remove your post without warning or explanation. This is to protect companies from the unlikely case of competitors posing as disgruntled customers on our forum.
