If you like castles, you'll love Dundas. Amanda & Dan had their ceremony in the Old Keep before dancing the night away in the pavilion.

One of our favourite venues in the area is Lennoxlove House, near Haddington. Amanda & Mark's intimate ceremony took place in the Undercroft and they then threw a fantastic party in the Great Hall.

Another great historic venue near Edinburgh is Borthwick Castle. Our bride, Kate spent the night before her wedding in Mary Queen of Scots' bedroom, which was pretty cool (and a little bit spooky).

They are a fantastic couple who compliment each other really well.

With amazing ‘confidence’(?) Cameron House had put the couple next door to each other the night before the wedding. Can you imagine? Knowing that the person you will be marrying the very next day is through the wall to you? On the bright side this made it easy for us to flit between rooms to catch all the preparations.
Cool, smooth, calm and controlled in the girls room – utter chaos in the boys room.




After a lovely humanist ceremony we made out way outside to shoot in and around the sumptuous grounds of this 5 star venue, unfortunately our session was cut short by the incoming downpour which began just as we headed back inside the hotel. Victoria looked absolutely beautiful with both the brides and bridemaids dresses amongst the best we have ever seen.

Then things really got going as Victoria had arranged for the Clanidonia tribal Scottish group to entertain the guests before dinner. During the speeches it was mentioned that facebook had played a part in bringing Victoria and Darren together – the power of social media eh?

Caroline and Kevin had chosen to have their wedding at the Lodge on Loch Goil and what a fantastic choice they made. The Lodge is a real hidden gem set on the banks of Loch Goil and with Kevin and Caroline making a stunning couple the day was a photographers dream.




The ceremony was held on the shores of the loch after which we took pictures at the boat house, on the viewing deck and in the treehouse. Spoiled for choice!!!

Yesterday I... Wow been really busy of late without a chance to get some images uploaded, hopefully can get a couple on here in the next few weeks.

Yesterday I got to go back to my hometown, Dunblane to shoot a wedding for the first time. Was great to get down by the river with the Cathedral in the backrop was a bit overcast so could have done with a blue sky. Dara and Matt were the most laid back couple I have ever had the pleasure to shoot. All the way from New Zealand I am amazed at the power of the Net. Was a great compliment that they chise me, they work in the film industry as a sound engineer and makeup artist with several photographer friends so my gallery had been gone over by quite a bit but great to know after all that they really liked what I do and their 'tog friends were confident I would deliver for them. Hopefully should have a couple of images up soon.

You know you are maybe overdoing it when you end up on first name terms with your local takeaway. Well I guess I blew that away by shooting their wedding on Friday! I have known Pete and Alan of China China since moving to Perth a few years ago. Pete tied the knot on Friday with Kirsteen at Murrayshall with great weather it was an easy days work. I normally pop in for a quick dinner on my way home from a hard days work shooting a wedding. Hopefully they will like the images and I get a few extras next time I am in got to be worth some spare ribs at least. Pete had arranged pipers for his guests at the Hotel and to pipe for Kirsteen at the house which was a nice touch with two pipers and two drummers they sounded awesome. A harpist sang and played through the ceremony he had pulled out all the stops to give his beautiful bride the most special day.

A couple of weeks ago shot my best friend from school's wedding at Dalhousie Castle in Edinburgh. The wonders of facebook, Jackie and I had lost touch for nearly 15 years but through a friend a request was sent and we were back in touch. She asked me to shoot her wedding to Jarrod. Jackie has built a great business and with Jarrod are a very busy couple managing family and business life. They organised a great wedding day which was low key and informal. It was great to see the Jackie I knew from school, still the same person after all these years having her perfect day with the man she loves. What a great couple and I love the shots from their day.

Had the pleasure of having a day off and being a guest at a wedding for a change. My good friend Chris tied the knot with Karen up in Nairn. Took the camera with me (just can't not take photos) grabbed some nice candid shots and dancing. I have to say it was great to be a guest and watch another 'tog do all the hard work in the sun. I don't know if that made the champagne any sweeter but it certainly tasted nice.

I was Criagsanquhar in Fife for Anne Marie and Steven's wedding. All set for an outdoor ceremony everyhting went well until a few spots of rain came down so quickly inside to complete the paperwork. Clouds parted almost immediately for a glorious sunny afternoon for the happy couple to enjoy champagne on the terrace. Best man had to do a mad dash to Dundee to get the cravat's which had been left at home.

Bookings for next year are going well and with the article in next months SWD Real Life Weddings mag (so watch this space) together with the Perthshire Wedding Show I expect to have more weddings booked for 2011 by Christmas than I had for 2010 by last Christmas. I guess I must be doing something people like.

I also do corporate work and I am off to London for 4 days next weekend to shoot a Hotel. Quite nice as its all expenses and they are putting me up in the Hotel. Its a real shame that they have 5 other Hotels so we UK photography tour for me.

Anyway break over I am off to work on the recent weddings and then a wee bit more work on the new website.

We had been looking forward to this wedding for some time as it was our first... Emma and Iain were married at Balbirnie House on Saturday 14th August.
We had been looking forward to this wedding for some time as it was our first wedding at this beautiful venue.
It has everything a photographer could ask for - a beautiful staircase, grand rooms with large windows and fireplaces, pillars at the entrance and beautiful gardens.
The staff are very attentive and make sure everything runs like clockwork.

The day started at 10a.m. when we arrived to check into our room (yes we were lucky enough to be invited to stay!)
Allan wandered around taking some photos of the grounds and rooms while I set up with my make-up kit in the girl's dressing room.
Iain and the guys made an unexpected early visit with the cake. They decided they would set it up themselves (bless, their hearts were in the right place but their first attempt made it look more like the leaning tower of Pisa).
Thankfully the pastry chef stepped in to lend a hand while the guys hurriedly set off for Iain's parents’ house down the road before Emma arrived.
Emma and the girls returned from the hairdressers at about 11a.m. then it was down to work.
Emma and one of her bridesmaids had had their make-up trial several weeks before and chose classic golds and bronze shades which matched perfectly with their colouring and the deep aubergine coloured bridesmaids’ dresses.
Emma's other bridesmaid had only recently flown in from New Zealand but was happy to go with the theme.
Emma looked absolutely stunning in her designer gown - a vintage style with low V back. A long string of pearls knotted and draped down the back of her dress completed the look.
Her very proud dad couldn't stop saying how beautiful she was.
Although everything had been calm in the lead up to the ceremony the reality of it all hit just before Emma made her entrance. A few tears wiped and deep breaths and she was ready for her entrance to the sounds of the string quartet.
They had a Humanist celebrant conduct the wedding ceremony with readings given by Emma's mum and Iain's sister.

After the ceremony everyone enjoyed champagne and canapés in the sunshine while we found some shade for the photos.
The meal was superb and the sparkly dance floor does give that wow factor.
It was a fantastic day - we certainly had a ball and enjoyed every minute.
