SO YOU'VE EXCHANGED VOWS, enjoyed the party and waved off your guests. Maybe you've got something in mind for your first night together as man and wife, but here we present some uniquely luxurious places to spend your second, third or fourth nights...

Throughout this website you'll find venues recommended as ideal places to spend your first married night together. But newlyweds often say that after an emotional rollercoaster of a wedding day, they're so shattered that they couldn't make the most of their first night. However, couples are also conscious of the fact that they will probably need a few days to chill out and come back down to earth after the big event –some honeymooners put the trip off for a little while, allowing a chance to recover before heading off, and perhaps catch up with guests who are still in the area. So rather than going away on your actual wedding night or even the next day, you might leave it three or four days. Wherever you're getting married, the wedding venues below are all ideal places to spend your second or third night of married bliss – by which time you're hopefully a bit less sleep-deprived and have the energy to make the most of your luxurious surroundings.

glenskirlie-castle-suitew.jpgSTIRLING: Glenskirlie Castle

Glenskirlie in Stirlingshire is Scotland's youngest castle, by at least a few hundred years. It has two distinct but equally opulent Castle Suites, both with boldly styled themes and all the necessary ingredients for a romantic overnight stay. Each suite has a four-poster bed, separate walk-in dressing rooms to protect your modesty, and turreted bathrooms with huge sunken baths. The venue has quite a few different packages aimed at couples, any would be perfect for newlyweds. For £495 you can enjoy a night in a Castle Suite with benefits including an a la carte dinner next door in Glensklrlie House, a bottle of Champagne and a full Scottish breakfast. You can also take a much needed late check-out and receive a bottle of Molton Brown Celestial Maracuja Sugar Polish and Body Souffle, ideal to use in the sunken bath and luxury shower.

INVERNESS: The Rocpool Reserve

rocpoolreserve-12w.jpgThe Rocpool Reserve has only been open a couple of years, but already has a reputation as one of the most stylish hotels in the highlands, and was awarded the title of 'Most Excellent UK City Hotel 2008' (by Conde Nast, not Bill and Ted). They have some quirky room categories to choose from; none of your classic and grand labels here –instead the room types are classified along the lines of chic, hip, decadent and extra decadent. In the latter you have your own private terrace, with a hot tub on it, so you can relax with a bottle of bubbly and enjoy fantastic city views as you do so! There's a great restaurant and cocktail menu downstairs, but with a plasma TV, DVD player, king-size bed and bathroom boasting a rain shower and deep bath, you probably won't want to leave your room.
