Flowers: £350-1000+ for the package, including pedestals/table arrangements for the church/reception
* Again this depends on how many bridesmaids you have and the style of flowers you choose. Many florists are quite happy to work to a budget set by you. To save money, it can help to have smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet for the bridesmaids, or try wrist corsages, which can cost less than £10 each. The time of year also makes a difference, it’s more difficult to source flowers in the winter.
Insurance: £49-299
* Beware of going for the cheapest deal before finding out exactly what’s covered under the agreement. Get the magnifying glass out and read the small print to know where you stand!
Wedding Rings : £150-3000+
* The price of metal has recently increased a lot. Many brides now opt for one combined ring, ie a wedding band with diamonds in it to signify the engagement, which is the European way of doing it, rather than two separate bands. While it’s not unusual to spend £1500 on a platinum ring, to save money you could go for titanium rings (which looks a bit like platinum, except darker) which can cost as little as £100 each. If you go for a set of designer rings you’ll be looking at the top end of this range, but this is one of those products where you can pay as little or as much as you are willing to.
Stationery
- professional: £200-1000
- DIY method: £100-190+
* This is another difficult one to quantify because there are so many different factors involved, such as the number of items you order, the number of guests, and whether you opt for plain designs or completely handmade one-offs. There are also so many companies selling stationery that there is a huge range of prices too.
Transport: £150-500+ per car
* Some transport companies have package deals offering you a discount for hiring multiple cars from them.
Videography: £375-2999+
* The price varies according to the number of cameramen/women present on the day, as well as the skills, equipment and experience of the person editing the footage after the event.
